What's the next 9mm you intend to buy?

Tecolote,

Thanks for the tip, but $1,200 is higher than I want to go. If I wait, I am sure that I can find one for $1,000, maybe less. I talked to HK last week, and new P7M8s will be scarce until the end of summer. HK told me that every one is going to fill a contract with the state of New Jersey.

Gremlin - Kahr P9. Used to have an MK9, but had to let it go for financial reasons. Checked out the P9 because a guy at my fave store puts every new kid in my hands whenever I walk in. Really liked it. Like carrying nothing.

Cawdor - Check out a refurb P7. $200-$300 less and only thing to complain about is the mill mark.

Silver Bullet - You should give credit for that signature. Not only to give credit where it's due, but to not give the wrong impression to any "visitors" to TFL or anywhere else you may use it.

JG - Thank you for mentioning that 9000S. I just now, half way through this post, went to beretta.com to have a look. WOW. Haven't had a gun strike me like that in a long time. I think I know what my next .40 will be.

Best to you all.

Gremlin,

If (when) I get another 9mm it will most likely be a Beretta Cougar 8000F.

Reason? I recently picked up a Cougar in .45 ACP and I like it. That and the fact that I've recently learned that 15 round hi-cap magazines are available through Pro-Mag.

I'd -really- like another HK USP and I'd consider a 9mm version if hi-caps were available at a resonable price. Personally, I think a pistol that size carrying only 10 rounds of a small caliber cartridge like 9mm is a waste of space.

If my 951 Beretta clone comes back from the shopin good shape then I will save for the new 9000, if it does not then a new or used 92FS is what I want.

Guess I'm a classic Kahr kind of guy. Glock's got the lock on polymer perfection but a nice tasty used MK9 for $399 or a NIB E9 for $300 is quite tempting.

Sorry folks but the jury is still deliberating on the P9. Wow, Glock messed up with the G36 joke of a gun and Kahr messed up with the P9.

If I buy Kahr, it's all metal baby!

I recently bought an SW99 (the 1/2 Smith & Wesson version of the Walther P99). I like it pretty well so far, although I haven't shot it much yet. It is light, rust-resistant, feels very good in the hand, and I have 3 legal Walther 16 round magazines that work in it. By the way, I got it used, so I don't feel too guilty about supporting S&W.

My next 9mm will probably be a CZ75 Compact PCR model. I really like this pistol - its fairly compact and light (alloy frame), very well-made, and a good buy at a little over $400 new. A friend of mine bought one and I like it a lot. I also have some pre-ban high caps for it (inexpensive compared with other high-caps).

I'm also thinking of getting a Makarov, but its a 9x18 (I assume when you say 9mm you mean 9x19).

The 9s that appeal to me either (1) have 14+ round magazines available, or (2) are very light and compact (Kel-tec, Taurus, Kahr, etc.). I can't get excited about a medium to full-sized 9mm unless it holds more than 10 rounds. I know that this is probably a fairly insignificant issue to many, but those blocked magazines just bug me. Its like buying a car with an 18 gallon gas tank that is artifically limited to 10 gallons.

MK9 or G26 or possibly Beretta 9000. I'm looking for a small 9mm that doesn't cost a mint (Kahr might be out).

Might be another Glock 19, as a hedge against future gun legislation. Or maybe a CZ75 Compact. Last year I was able to pick up five factory hicaps for this pistol for next to nothing. Hmmmm...decisions, decisions... :)

i just installed a 9 mm nato barrel on my cz52 this am as a matter of fact .im going for the feg clone as soon as i can save up the next c note.dont like plastic guns, buddys melted in a house fire all the others didnt
being steel. compare the cz52 sometme with its g3 k+k style lock up. cant be beat, wide variety of barrel chamberings to be had cheap enuff, my 9 nato was 70 on sale at makarov, com. and it shoots well. has a raked out mauser/walther look (guess where brno stole the design). i have in the past owned po8's a hi power,p38. and others , the cz i like the best, now fastly approaching 275 on the market as more poeple are realizing the potential of them.also the fact that they can eat sub mg gun ammo allday without a wince where most 9mm's cant and theyre is quite an array of upgradeable parts listed now.mine was mint inside and mint bore as well, save a little bit of wear on the parkerizing on the slide, the whole thing has been reblued and the grips black epoxy painted.it quickly became number 1 weapon to carry due to reliability, and comfort to carry approach, on the feg they cant handle that ammo due to softer steels used so dont beat it with the hot loads or too many +p's. newer hi powers can take it from what i heard, but at 169$ i just have to get the feg because i cant swing a hi powers 340$ tag,may just sell one of my preban rifles for the browning tho....

Kahr P9. The bosslady needs her own gun, and she likes the way the P9 fits her hand.

Just got an Argentine (FM) BHP, because I've always wanted one and the FN BHP's in my area are going for ludicrous prices.
I swore that would be it for me in 9mm, but those used HK P7's are looking mighty good. Now I may have to brownbag my lunch for a few months and go out a lot less, but... who knows

probably a CZ85. i have had three other CZ75/85s in the past, and i miss it in my collection. very comfortable gun and fits most hands when cocked and locked.

Probably a Glock 19. I had one and it was the quintessential (hope I spelled that right.) 9mm. Plus I've still got a hi-cap mag for it. But that 9000s sounds cool, too.
You can carry it cocked and locked.

My next 9mm will be a Browning HP. I want to get another piece of this functional artwork while there are still a few left around.

The next full size 9x19mm pistol I would want to get would be the Vektor SP1 or Z88 (they use Beretta 92 mags, and DSA sells the manufacturers originals). In regard to compacts, I would like to get the KelTec P11.
