what's the diffence between snubby and 3 in barrel

Hi, Windjammer,

IMHO, the barrel length makes little difference in concealment, though the holster used has a lot to do with it. The reason is that the barrel is usually pointing down and not sticking out. I think that butt size (the gun, that is, but maybe the shooter's also) makes more difference for concealability.

Jim,

As I stated in this post, if your going to carry on your person than clothing becomes an issue. I'm not a LEO and I do not normally wear a sport coat, I wear slacks and sport/golf or button up type shirts, carrying an exposed weapon is not allowed by NC state CCW laws. So any holster that allows an exposed view of the weapon will not work for me.

This dedicates some kind a inside the pants holster, in this situation size does matter ( but then everyone knows that :D ). the weapon profile must be as small as possible. I use PagerPal holster with a 2 1/2" 38 spl. I can wear this rig with jeans, slacks even shorts and no one knows that I'm armed. I believe this is the whole purpose behind "C & C".

Since I have a good friend who runs a gun store, I have had the opportunity to try other holsters and other guns in the Pagerpal. Any 4" revolver makes the holster stick out and cause a big hump under your pocket while standing and when you sit down you have a real nice barrel impression sticking up on your leg. Only revolver that seems to work is the 2 1/2" 38 spl.. I have tried it with some auto's the Glock 26,27 work great even the 19 is OK. The Springfield HD's will work, really any small framed auto will. Mainly because of their square profile.

The sole purpose of "C & C" is to have that less a fighting chance in a very bad situation. I feel the gun and load ( 158 gr +P HP SWC) I use does that. If I could carry any weapon I wanted and not be concerned about concealment, it would be a 4" gp 100 or 686 with 180 gr semi jacket HP's but that's not real world for me. :) :) :)

+1 that pager pal is a good option for carrying a 5 shot snubby.

So is a smart carry. I have both. Recently have been using the smart carry, but only because it is ALSO effective at concealing my 9mm.

'course, smart carry is much more of a pita to put on and to reholster than the PP.

I cant hit anything with a snubby, 2 inch. no accuracy at all, esp beyond 6 feet.

I can hit anything with a 3 inch out to 30 yards or so. I got rid of all my 2inch guns and replaced them with 3 or 4 inch guns. There is really no difference in carrying a 2 or 3 inch gun, but improved performance of the 3 inch is enoumous.
