What's the best "out of the box" semi-automatic pistol you've owned?

Kimber Pro Carry II. Carried it everyday the past several years (plainclothes LEO) and several thousand rounds later, it's still going strong. The finish leaves a bit to be desired; it's like an old Intn'l tractor; don't look like much, but it'll still pull a plow.

The best "out of the box" semi-autopistol I've owned has to be my Walther PPS M2 9mm. Even though I've bought two extra 8rd. mags for it, the original 6 & 7 round mags worked great, and it works with every holster I've tried with it. This gun shoots great, and I like the trigger & sights a lot. Wouldn't change a thing

I have several pistols that would qualify. But I agree the Walther PPS is an exceptional pistol. I have the "original" PPS and it is a joy to shoot, unlike others I have tried in it's class, and 100 percent reliable. It fast became my primary CCW.

Out of the box, nothing but ammo needed....SIG's, Glock's, HK's.

Closest thing to that with a 1911....Colts and GI guns.

I would nominate my NIB S&W M-639. It has a very smooth trigger and often feels like the DA is lighter than the SA. 100% reliable and accurate with the right ammunition.

Tough choice. I've been lucky enough to never have a "problem" gun (yet!) out of the box, so they've all been good.

BEST would probably be my Gen 4 Glock 26 or Glock 21. Toss up between them.

I would have to say, for an all around out of the box pistol, probably my Glock 26. It carried well, did not compromise accuracy or shootability, great for range days, take down was a no brainer, reliable as an anvil, decent enough capacity. I no longer have it because although it carried well, it didn't carry well enough for IWB carry. For that I wanted a single stack and decided to pick up a Kahr CM9 which has also been pretty flawless.

Lets Say it's a gun or guns that have been reliable, that serves its intended purpose well, and that hasn't been repaired or modified since you got it, get it?

Using that criteria, it would have to be my Para-Ordnance P13. Ate at least 20,000 rds without a single issue, FTF, FTE, etc. Not one. And when I first bought it, I only bought the cheapest ammo for it, so it got a steady diet of aluminum/steel cased ammo. It was accurate (for a G.I. style 1911), with a pretty good trigger. My only issue with it ever was that due to its double stack profile, it was just a tad big for my medium sized hands. Of all the guns I've traded/sold over the years, I regret that one the most.

Glock 19. Needs night sights, smooth out trigger, I have two, set out the exact same/G3/G4.

Carry every day.

My Russian commercial Makarov in 380acp. I bought it NIB in the late 1980's. I don't recall it ever malfunctioning. It is accurate and the trigger is pretty good.

Glock 27..
Never missed a beat.
Truly concealable and is formidable with 9+1 of 40.
Super simple.
Easy to detail strip and clean.
Plenty of holsters, aftermarket accessories, internal parts, triggers, etc to pick from.
Aftermarket 9mm barrel (takes seconds to swap)
Mags are easy to find and inexpensive.
Inexpensive to buy in the first place.

Lastly, I shoot it well.

I've had a bunch that never failed and delivered every attribute desired for a "best" gun.
All of my HKs - USPC, USP, USP Elite, P2000sk, P7 PSP, P7 M8.
Beretta 84, 92fs.
Seecamp LWS32
Daewoo DH40, DP52
FN 5.7

Maybe a few others that don't spring to mind, but these are good as gold and represent about 10% of my collection.
