What's the best .22 revolver?

Well... I'm not sure about "best", but my Dan Wesson .22 is certainly a favorite.

My version is blue, 6" barrel with a heavy vent rib shroud. It's very accurate!!!

Does have a problem with sticky extraction after about 100 rounds.

Anybody got suggestions on how to polish .22 chambers?

Joe

dont comprimise, get the ruger you wont be sorry.
i own a old model ruger single six in 22lr/22mag and its the best 22 pistol i have.
i say go for it, you will not regret it.

Hate to go against the current here, but wanted to put in my .$02: I've fired five different Ruger Single Six .22lr/mag. combination guns, and I've never found one that's all that accurate. I think it might have to do with the compromise bore diameter Ruger uses (the .22 WMR and the .22 lr have slightly different diameters, and the Single Six combo splits the difference), because other Ruger single actions I've fired have been wonderfully accurate (once you get past the trigger pulls).

Personally, because of this accuracy thing I've noted, I wouldn't buy a Ruger. I've often considered the Taurus 94s and the Smith J-frames - those K-frames are incredibly accurate but are just too big for the uses to which I'd be putting a .22 revolver.

Have fun!

I have the old 5 screw K22. Slick gun!! You can get good used shooters around $300. I paid $235 (I think) for mine, no box, but better than 95%. Saw a beautiful 99% gun in Tulsa for $300 and missed out.

Diamondback or K-22, a toss-up probably. The Smith will cost less. I am excluding not just the current production of Smith K-22s but also those made since, heck, probably the mid/late 60s.

Do the Ruger Single-Six's have a slightly larger bore to accomodate the .22 Mag? I've heard this is the case and this may account for the so-so accuracy. I noticed that the Bisley .22 does not come with the .22 mag cylinder and is billed as a "target" .22 where the single six isn't..

That said they are fun guns. I'm looking for one of the Bisley models though. Also keeping an eye out for a good deal on an older S&W model 17 (k-22)
