What's out there in snubbies?

Greeting's All-

Well, I'm gett'in in a little late on this thread, but all I use is S&W
snubbies for CCW!

From an old S&W model 60 (.38 Special) '79-80 vintage :)
To a '92 vintage model 37-2 :D
Or even a new model 642-2

I have several snubbies, however this one is my favorite for CCW:

Smith & Wesson 638-3 Airweight

All good choices but for the best balance of size, weight and controlability, itis hard to beat the snag free 442/642. The DS is a good 7 ounces heavier and wider with it's 6 round cylinder. I love them to death and they are gorgeous guns but find it hard to justify carrying one when I can carry a 9 round 9mm around the same weight and slimmer in the pants....if you ankle carry, the 5 shot smiths also conceal better and are more comfortable....all depends on you needs I guess....

here is my hard chromed 442 with brownell's hideout grips.

No pictures here, as I don't have a digital camera.

I carry a 2.25" SP101 with a Hogue cocobolo wood grip. I have no interest in pocket carry, strictly a belt man. That means the 25 oz. Ruger feels like next to nothing OWB, and the extra weight of an all steel revolver makes shooting pleasant, not merely bearable.

I got this one used for a nice price, and don't ever intend to willingly part with it.

I just picked up a used mod 60 38 spl Monday morning It was made in 1982 don't know were its been but hasn't been to a range very much. Ive put a 100 rounds thru her and she in my pocket and my PPK/s is mad at me.

I just saw a Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan! Talk about power, and beauty all built into one wheelgun...I gotta have this. .454 casull / .45 colt, 2 1/2" Brl, 6 round cyclinder.... :D

I'm not sure I'd want the Super Redhawk for a CC piece... I guess in Alaska you always have a coat on and could use a sturdy belt.

..but then, I'd want more barrel under a coat (especially in AK!).

Myself, I have a SP101 with a hammer and a 2" bbl. I've been lusting over the Taurus catalog pages that show the shouded hammer snubbies, though.

well, my best suggestion is the 642, as most would recomend. i have the 340pd. LOVE IT! great gun, shoots, feels, carries, great. hurts the pocket book though. around $650's. thats why i say the 642 is most pratical cause of the price and its so simalar to the 340pd. the reasons i got it is, weight (12oz.) so its comfortable to have on you, its hammerless so it doesnt get caught on clothing if you need to draw, and in revo's you dont have to worry about jams, as you do in the brass chukers. just my opinion

You are right--it is not there now, but it was when I posted it. I have the same problem on The High Road. I am positive I know how to do it, but they always disappear. I wonder if they are being deleted. If so, I would really like to know why. :( :(

One more attempt at posting my pics...

Hope this works...

Nice pics...I can see them now!

I keep wavering between the 135 gr. +P Gold Dots and the 158 gr. +P LSWCHPs.

Anybody have any direct comparisons between these 2 rounds out of a snubby?

I'm primarily wondering which may be better out of my 2" Model 64. Recoil is not bad at all with the 158 grainers, so I'm not sure whether I should switch. I do keep the 135 gr. GDHPs in my 442 though.

I have the Taurus 605 snub.

I haven't tried the 135gn +p golddots, but I like a lighter slug. It kicks less.
The most comfortable one so far is the PMC 125gn 38+p starfire. I find them to be very accurate as well with tight groups at 20ft or so.
I don't have good luck with the 158gn lswchp's. Don't know why.
