I've tried all the above. Good grips, most of 'em. Nothing beats Spegal's original wood grip, good looking, comfortable, great hand positioning. Expensive, worth the wait.
 
uncle mikes boot grips on my model 60 put em on before smith started shipping guns with em,would like a pair of spegal grips one of these days
 
If you mean 'snubby grips'...

Since my snub is a 3" Taurus 85 stainless .38, it doesn't really qualify as a J-frame exactly, but mine wears Pachmayr Compac rubber grips.

The place I bought them from let me try everything they had in stock for it (without firing the gun). I tried Uncle Mikes, Pachmayr, Eagle, and one other make I can't remember the name of right now. Different styles, composition, etc. The Pachy Compac rubber just felt 'right' to me at the time. I've never felt it was a bad choice.
