Another voice from Central Florida, based on chats at the shops and range. This neck of the woods seems to be very cost-driven.
There are a lot of used & police surplus Glocks, nines and 40s in particular and the mini-Glocks are favorites here in the home of the CCW permit. Kel-Tecs of all sorts do well for the same reason -- they are easy to carry and seem to be the "budget Glock". The KT P-32 was selling like hotcakes at the Orlando Gun Show, I saw one dealer sell all six he had in two hours. The Heritage Stealth is another popular budget carry gun. The Beretta 92 is popular but not for carry. Good 1911s cost more than a lot of people want to pay -- $1800 for a Kimber?
Ruger and Taurus dominate new revolver sales now, with Ruger's GP100 leading full sizers and the Taurus leading in snubs (Taurus .38 snubs seem to be the womens' favorite carry gun here). Ruger autos are not as popular, but the P97 gets some attention. Taurus autos are a budget favorite, and the Millennium polymer framed guns are another mini-Glock alternative.
The Germans are slow movers -- SIGs, Walthers and HKs. Like most other places, S&Ws are collecting dust. There are the usual lower-tier guns like Lorcin, they sell strictly on price like Daewoo cars.
Big trend around here: the belly pack/fanny pack is known as the "Florida Holster". On a Saturday at the mall I can usually spot half a dozen belly packs sagging under the wieght of a CCW.
