What's hot and whats not in your area?

In Northern Virginia the Glocks, Kimbers, Rugers and Sigs are hot sellers off the dealer shelves.

Steyr M9 and M40s aren't moving, nor is Beretta, and even the Walther P99s are sitting on the shelves. Kahr P9s aren't moving.

And, of course, S&W sales are SLOW.

I am surprised that the Steyrs and Walthers have run out of steam.

Here in North Florida, we see lots of Tauruses, Rugers, and 1911-style pistols selling very quickly! My local shop's Slick and Wesson sales have practically dissappeared, and seem to have been supplanted by Ruger and Taurus products.

Makarovs, Kel-Tecs, and other "value" guns seem also to sell briskly as "carry" or "truck" guns.

Kel-Tecs and Glocks are very big in SC. S+W is dead in my part of the state. Taurus and Ruger are also selling, especially Taurus. Seems to be a lot Beretta's sitting around here too.

Western North Carolina checking in. All Glocks are selling, Kimbers are in demand and Rugers are a steady mover. Nobody is buying S&W. Taurus revolvers are a good seller.

Kimbers, Kel-Tecs, AR's are hot here. Glocks remain steady but people are finally wising up on them ;) Seriously though, Glocks used to move like Mexican jumping beans.

Colts are also a hot seller around here.

Lemme see.... (I work part-time for a gun shop in SE Virginia)

Glocks are FLYING off the counter at our place. All makes, models, and calibers. Big hitters of late: G26 and G27. We've had four or five of the new G36's in, and none of them lasted more than six days. In fact, we sold three in the first two days. The G34 and G35 are also moving briskly. Hell, they ALL are! :D

Bushmaster AR's, too, though that's not a handgun.

We send the occasional H&K out the door, too, but not like I would expect. I figured they would be close to the Glock's, but they aren't.

The Kel-Tec pocket guns (P-11 and P-32) come and go fairly quickly also.

Revolvers are sort of slow right now, but then again we aren't carrying any of *&*'s stuff anymore. I sort of like some of the recent stuff Taurus has turned out, and am perplexed as to why people don't see the value that is represented in them. They have seriously increased their workmanship in the last 12 months, in my opinion. They are right up against Ruger in that department from where I stand. If you haven't look at one recently, I encourage you to do so. You'll be surprised and probably impressed at what you can get for the money.

The hottest thing in this area right now isn't a firearm or firearms at all. It's IDPA shooting! :D :D :D

Alot of people here are cheap so Bryco and Jennings get sold by the ton. Fortunately they have no place in my collection.

Here in Central Florida, Kimbers and Glocks are almost impossible to keep in stock. Ruger autos are always popular, and HK USPs are selling well.

Here in S. Florida, based upon what I see at local shooting ranges, all models of Glocks, Sigs and Keltek seems to be most popular. I'm surprised by lack of Ruger pistols and all revolvers in general.

Central Alabama is wild about Sig's, Glock's,
Kimber's, and Kel-Tec's. Smith & Wesson revolver's showed a decline; but are still
moving occassionally. Walther's, Beretta's,
and Desert Eagle's are dead! :p Rugers sale's
have shown the most increase, for a working
man's budget. :D

I'm not really sure what's hot here in Indiana. I'd say Glock, 1911s, Ruger etc. I know the Kel-tec p-32 was. I was on a waiting list for a month. But I know what's not. S&W, prices have dropped and I saw a counter card offering a $50 rebate to boot. Huh? I can't figure that one out??? Oh well I don't need a S&W even that cheap. Happy shoot'n. Kevin

Dogger--
Interesting you should open this thread. I imagine it goes mainly to what is selling well, but I recently did an informal survey of what people actually CARRY in our North Texas county, as opposed to just keep in the car or shoot at the range. The results may be of interest. Majority of these are by law enforcement officers, because it is easy to see ‘em around the sheriff's office--uniformed personnel or plainclothes with jackets off. Typically, some of the troops change carry pieces every 90 days, and some have been packing the same old thing for 20-plus years.

1911-types--Probably 30 or so. Mostly Colts, a fair number of Kimbers. Five Commanders, both light and heavy. I don't know of any caliber other than .45.

Glocks--The major single brand. Maybe 70 of them, mostly in .40, several in .45 and .357 SiG, and, of course the 9 mm. A lot of full size guns but mostly the mid-size, both LEO and private. Several plainclothes and private carry the compact. This large number has to do with one good sized agency issuing Glocks.

SiG pistols: Quite a few privately purchased and carried by LEOs. All models and flavors, 9, .40 and .45 fairly evenly split, with the .357 SiG coming on fast. One P230 .380. Texas Department of Public issues .357 SiGs, so there are probably 25 troopers in the uniformed services packing ‘em. Their plainclothes people have wide latitude in their own choice. The Rangers here and in adjoining counties carry 1911s mostly. The Narcotics, Criminal Intelligence and Auto Theft types may carry anything at all, revolver or auto.

Rugers--About five autos in 9, .40 and .45, and two .357 revolvers.

.32 autos: Five Kel-Tecs, one Beretta Tomcat, two Seecamps.

Colt revolvers--One Python, one Detective Special, one old Agent

Three Kahr 9 mm, one in .40.

Four Kel Tec 9 mm, and one in .40.

Several S&W revolvers still in LEO holsters hereabouts--
Five Model 19,2-1/2 and 4-inch, one Model 27, five-inch, one 25-5 in .45 Colt, one .44 Mag 4",( but I THINK he carries .44 Special loads), and four snub .38s, different models. One Model 10 four-inch.

Only about four S&W auto pistols, and that has been about constant since well before "The Agreement."

Four H&K USP in .40.

About 15 Browning High Powers, about evenly split between 9 and .40. Two 1910s in .380.

Three Beretta 92s, and two DAO Cougars in .40. The latter are our two Immigration inspectors, who have no choice in the matter.

Two Taurus, PT 99 or whatever, in 9 mm and one equivalent in .40. One Taurus .38 snub. Strangely, none of the .44 Spl or .45 Colt have shown up on LEOs.

And, yes, one small town cop carried a .44 Desert Eagle for a while but I think he was laughed out of it.

Best to all--
RR

Here in Arizona Glocks, especially the G26 sells like hotcakes. My gunshop can't keep them in stock fast enough. Other Glocks exsept the G36 sell well here to.

Cumming, GA:

We sell more Glocks than all other autos combined. Taurus & Ruger autos are selling well. Berettas and SIGs have cooled off recently. Full-size 1911's have just started gathering dust on the shelves, but baby Colts, Springfields, Kimbers, and ParaOrds are moving well. Baby Taurus wheelguns, especially in Titanium, are hot. Medium-frame wheelguns are dead around here, but large-frame big-bore Tauruses and Rugers go quickly (especially around deer season).

In my part of S.E PA the usual sellers are, not in particular order: Glock, 1911's, and Rugers in semi-auto. Ruger and Taurus revolvers, but semi's are the predominant showing at the ranges.

Like 20,000 other people, I go to the Puyallup gun show. What is interesting is what is not available: Glocks and 357 snubies 5 shots. The number of these for sale wihtout a paper trail is always tiny if at all. Thousands of guns for sale and no GLock. They get snapped up.

There are lots of Iver Johnson 38 SS&W for $40~ $100. No one wants them [except me]

Here in CO, I see a lot of SA's and Kimbers. In class, I see Taurus revos a whole lot...especially with women and beginners. Most of the instructors carry 1911's of some type.

Here in PRK (at least in the Northern part) Glocks and Sigs seem to go as fast as dealers can stock them. Ruger .22 MKIIs also fly out the door.
