What's Better than Double Ear Protection

I wear double ear protection every time I shoot weather im indoors or not. I would rather be safe than sorry later.

Am I kidding myself by thinking that double ear protection is fine for an indoor range?

Its the best you can do. Wear muffs with the highest NRR you can find/afford along with the ear plugs. The only other way to avoid the noise is not shoot indoors or don't shoot at all. Muffs with a NRR of 30-31 and ear plugs will give you a NRR of 35-36 of protection. If you do a search you will find a post of mine with all the data to support my statement about NRR.

If you use foam earplugs, follow the directions. Most people I know don't bother to reach over their head with the opposite hand and pull their ear back and up to insert the plug, so they aren't actually getting the ear canal aligned properly for proper insertion depth.
