whats a good 22lr rifle

The CZ's are nice rifles and have developed quite a following. I would never give up my 452. That said, you can probably get a good rifle for less money. Maybe it would be better to ask about bad experiences, since there are so many good .22's available.

Love the Marlin 795 and CZ-455 American
They are the only .22LR rifles I've owned, so I don't really have anything to compare them to.

The CZs are solid rifles, but the two I've had needed a bit of tweaking to make them more accurate and function well.
I'm impressed with the Savage Mark II BTV and fellow shooters at our club find it's an accurate rifle. There are many different models of the MK II, including with or without the Accutrigger.
Ruger 10-22s don't seem as well made as in the past, but there are so many after-market improvements available that it's fun to make them into whatever someone would like them to be. I like the Deluxe stock model much better than the carbine, since it fits me better and is easier to modify to take heavy barrels, accurize, etc.
Marlins, especially the 39A were once excellent rifles, but lately have had lots of quality control problems.

wat about the remington nylon 66? i heard they are accurate rifles if you can find one. only downside it was frowned apon cause of the plastic stock.

the rem 597 is also a nice one.... i like 10/22 and 77/22s those are my favs... good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been truly pleased with my 10/22. It's been much better than I expected - finished very nicely for a $200 gun and uber-reliable. Also, no one ever told my 10/22 that it's not supposed to be accurate. It shoots good groups all day long.
BTW - get the "All-Weather" model if you want a sporter - it's a a tad more expensive, but the "bare" aluminum reciever is finished much more nicely than the spray-painted black aluminum recievers on some of the other models.

I've shot Marlin's, Ruger's, and Henry's.
The Marlin's and Ruger's were my dad's and well hell they are older than I am and still is shoot straight. The springs finally had to be replaced in the Ruger, but hell its 30+ years old.
I got my Henry a few years ago, and honestly, I probably will never by a different .22

I have a 10-22( actually my son does ) and a Marlin 39a.
Both are great rifles. I wanted a lever action from the time I was 14 or so and finally bought one about 6 years ago.
That is a fun rifle to shoot. I did have a trigger job done on it and the trigger breaks nice and clean at about 4 lbs.
It has been trouble free from the get go.

It is an inexpensive but very reliable and accurate plinking rifle,,,
Not a whole lot of aftermarket accessories,,,
But it works fine without them.
The CZ rifles are like a Lexus car,,,
They are certainly high quality,,,
But the price is right up there.

Classics.
If you want something a bit old fashioned,,,
Try an H&R Sportster single-shot,,,
Mine is scary accurate.

I have several .22s including a 10/22 and older Winchester 190 and have had several different models over the years but, the one I have always wanted was a Kimber. Just couldn't bring myself to pay the money they want for them. I have heard great things about the Ruger 77/22s which is to be expected, the 77s are just great rifles regardless of caliber (not sure about the 77 Mk II). I have never owned a CZ but but everyone that does seems to like them.

I've shot Marlin 60s, and rebuilt one for a friend. They're good too.
The Savage MkII series feel cheap, but shoot really well.
Marlins are nice, but also tend to have a "cheap stamped steel" feel to them. I had a 925 that was a lot of fun, but sold it after trying my best to wring every last bit of possible accuracy out of it.
CZ 452s are great rifles. They feel like a "real" centerfire rifle, and all of the one's I've shot have been fantastic. If you have $300-500 to spend, that would be my choice. The newer 455 versions also seem to be pretty nice. They occupy the great middle niche of .22 quality and price.
If you have more to spend, get an Anschutz, Weatherby MkXXII or even a Cooper.
When I last bought a 22, I ended up saving for a long while and getting an Anschutz. With good ammo it shoots better than I am capable of, but it's pricier than several of my centerfire rifles.
