Whatcha Using for The Dove Opener?....

Probably go for my B525 myself.

But the Benneli might get the nod.

Woody55, can you take some slugs out to surprise the hogs?

ATB,

Scrummy

Quail and Dove loads in my Winchester Super X model 1.... Just wait at the water and pass shoot all evening. Faster than Japanese Zeros in WW2...

16 gauge Winchester Model 12. Loads will be 1oz 7.5's. I don't hit many so the ones I do hit I want em to fall.

You know, I'd like to have just about every shotgun on this thread.

But maybe not for dove.

GP uplanders, IMO, are best when they are portable. While my clays gun runs over 8 lbs, my favorite field guns run between 6 and 7 lbs. And my pick, that SKB O/U, is about 6.75 lbs. Heavy enough to soak up some kick, light enough to carry and swing fast.

Those doves fly fast, as best I recall. Shorter barrel, lighter weight means a lot, regardless of gauge. First dove I ever shot, in 1956, turned out to be a chicken hawk. Got it with a single-shot .410. Times have changed - mebbe today I'd get 10-to-life for shooting that hawk by mistake.

My baby......my Benelli M2 26" apg camo. I believe I bought a case of federal ultra clay and target 7 1/2's IIRC. Cannot wait. I love dove season even more than I do deer season. Lil' birdies sure taste good wrapped in bacon and drowned in orange marmalade on the grill!!!!!!!

I will hunt with the same shotgun I've used for the last 43 years. A Browning A-5 in 12 gauge. My grandson got his license just last year and will hunt with me again this year with his Remingtom Model 11 in 20 gauge.
