What tactical 22 to buy?

So were about to get the SU22 up in Canada and I know you guys have been shooting them for a couple years now. Seems like a good option to me when looking at tactical 22s, which I currently am.

Mossberg- Dont like this offering havent heard good things

Smith and wesson 15/22 and sig 522- not available stupid laws

ruger 10/22 with archangel stock modification or SR22- Looks awesome, the favorite

SU22- another good choice?

you tactical 22 owners let me know if there are others worth considering will you?

This is mostly a range gun probably will throw a scope on it but wont be putting anything(lights, vibrators etc) else on there so I dont need alot of rail.

10/22 is a great rifle... its the small block chevy of rifles... infinitely modifiable and reliable. I have not had good luck with the kel-tecs. they are hit or miss, can be great or they can be a nightmare(my buddy's su16 is the latter). go with the tried and true. make it your own with all the aftermarket parts available.

One of my 10/22's came from the factory with a tapco collapsible stock, no flash hider. It has a scout rail and a bottom rail That I use a grip pod on sometimes. I dont have a dot scope for it yet, but I will some day. Its not over the top tactical but I guess tactical enough to suit me.

It's what you use to complete your ensemble of Tactical Pants, Tactical Shirt, Tactical Boots, socks, gloves, and Tactical Pen inside your Tactical Briefcase. :)

I bought a Sig 522. Goes good with my Tactical Underwear.

By tactical do you mean, ridiculously over the top and far to heavy than it needs to be, with the ability to mount a grenade launcher when the time comes?

Then I don't know, I've only got a Remington 597 which is only good for shooting small game, which it does quite well.

It's always nice when someone asks a simple question and gets a bunch of smart-ass answers. If you have nothing useful to add, why not just shut the F up.

@ Rustle in the Bushes= I think since you mentioned that the 10/22 is you favorite, that is what you should go with. As mentioned, it is relieable, accurate, and the mods are virtually infinate.

Geez, lighten up. Seems to me the "smartass" answers were all in good fun with no real malice intended. Ass I said, I like my "tactical" Sig 522 that goes with my tacky-ti-cool underwear.

But my unmentioned 10/22 Synthetic/SS is usually my go-to when thinning out the local varmint population.

I also have a 10/22 with the tapco stock, ruger 25 round mag, and reflex sight and it's one my most fun guns. It's also accurate and extremely reliable.

PM me if you would like to see some pics.

I love my S&W 15-22, but to be honest, my old Remington Nylon 66 .22 (60's vintage), is light, shoots fast and is more accurate (for me at least).

My co-worker has the S&W M&P-22 and it is a ton of fun. Very reliable, breaks down just like an AR. His is dead nuts accurate and runs like a machine. You can pretty much pick a target and crank 25 rounds into it with barely moving.

Shooting his so much last week makes me want to get another plinker .22 other than my 10/22.

I have been looking pretty hard at the Umarex H&K MP-5 A5.

Hahahah thanks jo6pack true enough. Funny how the wood/blueing guys love to hate on anything black and modern. Some forums keep em seperated so they dont fight!

So after doing some pondering the ruger sr22 with its barrel shroud and rails is not my thing, that su22/su16 by kel tec is meh as far as reliability etc vs a 10/22. BUT that Sig 522 is sweet! Ugh man I want that thing, but guess what.....Canadians dont get 'em. Someone is appealing their illegality so hopefully within a few years well be able....

Ill probably go with a 10/22 and do the basic soup up job on it, maybe throw a nifty stock on it. thanks all

He raises a valid point though, people fire off stupid remarks without adding anything to conversation. Good fun or not it's pretty irritating.

The 10/22 is the 'use all is all' 22 in my opinion. Parts are plentiful and everywhere and you can make it look like almost anything you want. I liked Stonefly's little bit on it, "it's the SBC of rifles". It's quite true.

I wish I never really bought a 10/22 to be honest. I sank money into tricking it out... and I barely ever use it... and when I do use it I barely enjoy it.

Sure Tactical or Tacicool .22's dont make much sense if your the type of person that just owns a few guns. But people that own a bunch of different things.. I think it makes more sense to. I can't hunt with a semi auto in PA so even a 10/22 is worthless for that anyways.

The tactical .22's are just fun, not to mention the AR styled ones feel the same and handle the same as my AR-15.

The only reason I might go with the Umarx HK MP5-22 is because I love MP-5's. Yes I have shot a real steel full auto one. I don't have the coin laying around to get a real one, so a .22 one is the next best thing to blow off rounds with.

Dont listen to the nay sayers... they either don't have the money to buy what they want, or their wives wont let them.;)

Funny how all the guys jump on his case for being a mall ninja when the guy I work with who owns the M&P -22 is a former Green Beret of the 5th.

My son's "Tacticool" MP5-22. He found a good place for the fairly rare CMO AR15 anti-sniper scope I gave him. Says the gun is very accurate and great for 3-gun events.
