what size is you 45 acp group at 25 yards

with my .44 mag redhawk's they shoot better with jhp's than lead.im thinking the 45acp in my case may do better with jhp's than lead.anybody seen that to be the case.

You guys are killing me.....have you seen those humongous blue silhouettes are the range. The BigFull size ones. I shot those are 25 yards, and I'm jumping up and down if I can even hit the darn thing. Since I am an over achiever I will eventually start looking at groupings, but would someone be kind enough to explain to me how to measure target groupings! I am shooting low left at 25 yards hitting lucky number 7. Now when you guys measure groupings, are you doing this in relationship to were the bullets land or are you measuring from say the "bullseye" you were aiming at. If its from the bulleye then all of you are GM shooters, compared to me!!:D
Kidcoltoutlaw if you wanna toss out your Springfield leave it in the recycle bin this week in a little blue box, and send me you name, address, and telephone number, I'd be more then happy to come out, recycle this item for you!!! :)

My Colt XS Gov't will shoot to point of aim and keep most of the holes touching for me at 7 yds. At 25 yds. with my eyes,
I'm having a good day when I can hit a bright orange sporting clay (laying on the berm)with less than 3 shots off hand!

Les Baer Concept III 1911 in 45acp, ONE HUNDRED rounds into 1.8 inches at 25 yards. Ammo was 230gr FMJ Speer Lawman shot from a rest on the hood of my truck. Watch-Six

CZ97B+MFS ammo+no rush=10 rd. 4" group w/o flyers.
Same size group for CZ-75. 2.5" group for MKII-678.

But I wear glasses and I'm no champ...

I just read a GT review on some top-notch revolvers with 8 1/2 " barrels and only one could manage groups sub-inch groups at 25 yards from a rest. That said, I have on two occasions shot 1" groups (five rounds) with my 686 revolver and Ultra-dot scope.... so obviously luck AND skill are required for such feats.

Most VERY GOOD production 1911's in .45 (Kimber, Para Ord, STI) usually check in with typical groups around 1.5" (give or take a bit) depending on ammo. Groups significantly better than that probably had an assist from the good Lord or just good fortune.

I reloaded some hornaday 200gr FMJ in front of a medium load of unique for my dad's HK USP. We took it out one day and with that ammo, we were shooting the caps off of 20oz pop bottles at about 15 yards.
I never have been able to do that again with that gun. but with the Baretta 92, i can do it most of the time.

Springfield 1911/Peters Stahl clone...

... on avg. 1" with support. Trigger pull excellent and the fitting of the polygonal Peters Stahl barrel is also fantastic.

:D

Well, drawing from the holster and firing 3 rounds in six seconds at 25 yards. About a four to six in. group.
