1.) Glock 17, three or four spare 10-round mags, several boxes of range ammo, and three or four boxes of 124-gr. +P Speer Gold Dots.

2.) G17 and two standard capacity mags.

Should be able to fit either of those in to the budget.

Or substitute a G19 if you think you might want to carry it concealed. It's nearly as big, but much easier to conceal IMO. I'm a pretty big fellow (6'3", size 14 ring) and I have no problem getting a terrific grip on my G19.

HS2000 is under $300 and takes modified Beretta full cap mags. Also look at a Glock 17 around $400 for refurb, under $500 for NIB, the only catch is that the 17 and 32 round mags are pricey now, though the 17 round mags can be successfully extended to hold many more rounds.

Most people forget the accesories. If I was in your shoes (and I wish I was:) )

Used Glock 17 +/- $450 (I like third geration grooves+slick finish)
One Standard capacity magazine (+/-) $90 (ouch!)
Bladetech holster $25 (now on sale!)
500 rounds of Winchester ball from wally world +/- $60
50 rounds of good hollowpoint ammo $25

Your good to go!

Squash the polymer idea, and get the gun
in use my U.S. Navy Seal Teams; the Sig-
Sauer P226 with (2) high capacity mag's.

What use?

- What are you going to use it for - range, or CCW, or?
- Do you specifically want a polymer finish, or?

I own a P22x-series pistol, but for range use and your budget I'd be inclined to buy a CZ75B, three high-cap magazines, and 2,000 rounds of ammo. For CCW use the polymer guns are lighter and have some nice functional features, although esthetically challenged.

Most people do not have the same functional requirements as the SEAL's, which include salt water corrosion resistance and movie rights... Anyone know what Delta, SF, or the Rangers use? You're damned right you don't - because they ain't saying. But the SIG P22x is rumored to be popular at Fort Bragg, NC and a few other locales as well.

I'd say either the USP9 or the Glock 17, depending on which you like better. Both are as reliable as you can get.

Give it to me and you'll get a friend for life :) :) :)

Seriously, if you are set for polymer, try the glock 19. Best handling glock out there. It's as "full-size" as a 9mm needs to be. Could try a Sig Pro, I think you would have holster and ammo money left over. LAter.

Two Rugers.

What the heck? Why spend so much on one firearm.

I can get a p95 for 279.00 after the 40.00 rebate and they send the rebate quickly.

You can use the leftover monies for a holster.

They are polymer and steel, black, and they work. You can use some of the leftover money to buy some p89 preban 15 rd mags.

Cheers

Save up $100 more and throw your energies into finding a nice used HK P7M8. I've bought two for $700 each. Nothing else compares for safety, reliability, speed or accuracy.

Or buy 2 Rugers.

Gardner, walther p-99, enough said. never a more satisfactory firearm made <in my opinion>. and you should have enough left over for a few hundred rounds of ammo. just make sure that you get one with the german proofmarks. there have been a large number of threads on this subject, so you should be able to find what i'm talking about.

You could get an F.I.E. Titan .25 auto, a suit
of cloth'es, a pair of B.V.D.'s, a pair of
shoe's, a VCR, a DVD player, and a hot date
with a "lady of the night".

Just hav'in fun, on an otherwise boreing night.
