Here in Delaware the State Police carry Sig P229's in .357sig...Our River & Bay authority carry Glock 21's(45cal)...I feel ashamed to say it but my local county Police carry "S & Wussy" I think model 5906 in 9mm & a city close to me carries the ultra cheesy "S & Wussy" sigmas in 9mm...Yuck !!

Places I've lived recently:

City of Cumming: Glock 22
Forsyth County, GA: Glock 22
Georgia State Patrol: Glock 22 & Glock 27
City of Atlanta: *&* 5943
City of Knoxville: Glock 17
Knox County: Glock 22
Tennessee Highway Patrol: *&* SW9 Sigma

Frederick city, and county sheriff's office carry 9mm Glocks. MD state police carry .40 Berettas.

We are a Smith state pretty much, in the immediate area, 4506, 457, 4566, 4586 for the local agencies. The others issue 92 and 96F Barettas, a Sig thrown in for good measure.

Helena City Police=S&W 4566, Lewis&Clark County=anything they want, East Helena Police=anything they want and Montana Highway Patrol=S&W 5903.

Well, the SPD carries the Glock Model 21 (.45 ACP,) and the County Police carry the Smith & Wesson (not sure what model) .40 S&W, though they are converting to the Glock Model 22 (.40 S&W.)

My area has mostly Berettas and 1911s, with a Glock or two thrown in for good measure (they aint very strict about what guns the ossifers use)

Police in my hometown, Lawton, OK, carry Glock 21's in .45 ACP.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol carry Sig 220's in .45 ACP.

Our Comanche County Sheriff's Department lets them carry anything they want. Glock 17's or 22's seem to make up the majority of sidearms.

GLOCKS

You can't throw a rock around here without hittin' a Glock .40 in a cops holster. The KSP still use that dang 10mm Smith. At least they are using Glock 27s for backup, plainclothes, and off duty. Some of the departments allow whatever the officer wants, but you still see more Glocks than anything else.

Don't get me started . . . . . .

Municipal cops carry Beretta 40's in whatever configuration they choose.

Deputies carry Beretta 9mm's but have the option of carrying their own 9mm (one carries a Sigma, yikes!). They are rumored to be moving up to .40's in the near future.

State Highway Patrol carries Berreta .40's (SA/DA).

State Conservation Officers carry Glock 40's.

State Dept. of Criminal Investigation Agents can carry either a Sig p239 in 9mm or a Sig P232 in .380.

We (State Police) carry Glock 9mm's but are moving up to .40's soon. But not soon enough for me! I can almost feel that 3rd Generation G23 with +2 LEO mags now.

Here in Houston I spoke with an officer to ask him and said that they carry Stars. I dont know what caliber... because once he told me I lost interest in finding out...

I wanted to hear Glock... but I guess not... oh well!

Local sheriff's dept. uses H&K .40s (not sure what variant). Several police agencies in the area use GLOCK. I believe state police use Beretta Cougar .45 (unless they've changed again).

Greeting's All,

My local P.D. along with the sheriff's office allows officer's
a choice, between revolver's and/or semi-auto's. Most
can be found carrying a semi-auto, from one of the major
player's: Glock, Sig-Sauer, Smith N' Wesson, or Colt. The
revolver guy's and gal's mostly choose is a Smith N' Wesson
66/686 in .357 magnum caliber.

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, Life Member N.R.A.

SIG Sauer, Glock, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, 1911's. You name it (within reason) and more than likely there's an officer in one department or another that's carrying one.

Flathead County Sheriff's Dept - Glock 20, Glock 21, Glock 22, Kimber's, Para Ord. Deputies have their own choice of weapon.

Kalispell PD - Kimbers, Para Ord, Sigs in 45 ACP. Officers have their own choice of weapons.

Fish Wildlife and Parks Wardens - S&W 40 cal. Dept issue.

US Forestry LEO's - Sigs 45 ACP. US Forestry issue.

Glacier National Airport Police - Glock 20, S&W 40 cal. Officers have their own choice.

Had a few changes here recently, deffinately a trend forming though. (All small agencies, 12 officers or less each)

The So carries Glocks in .40 - switched from S&W .45, various auto loaders.
The HP carry M 96 Berettas - they are the only local agency not to have made some sort of new gun buy in the last couple of years
3 municipal agencys switched to Glock in .40 - from various auto loaders. (HK P7 in 9mm (I think), 9mm S&W autos, and Colt 1911s in .45)
And 2 Municipalities carry Sigmas in .40 - one switched to them from old SW autos in .40 and one just ordered in new ones to replace their old ones.

Here in Belgium the Municipal Police carried a large variety of hand guns from .38 calibre S&W revolvers to Walther P5 and (mainly) the Browning HP in 9x19 mm. The Armed Forces and State Police ("National Guard") also stick to their Brownings HP for many decades now. Actually the Municipal Police and State Police (nowadays joined in the "Federal Police") are switching to Glock 19 while I believe SWAT-team members choose handguns according to their personal taste (Glock 17 and 19 and FN Five-seveN).
