What scope would you put on a hunting Howa 1500 in .308 in the following budget ranges?

I originally said go with a Leupold VX3i but..... Last night I was on the Cabela's website and saw the Vortex Diamondbacks. I ordered 3 using points I had accumulated. They were in stock in Reno, NV. I got the 3x9-40mm because it had a wider field of view. They'll go on a couple of my Weatherby Vanguards that I just got at Walmart clearance prices (249.99 each). I figure the scope was appropriately priced for the rifles and should stand up to a .308, 270 and 243 Win.
