What rings and bases do YOU use on your Rem700 PSS or LTR?

IMHO the Badger base/rings are the way to go. The rings from IB are very good also. Have both and am very pleased.

They are as said expensive but you get what you pay for. It always amazes me that a guy will spend anywhere from $500-$800 for a rifle and then put $40.00 base/rings on it.
The same with pistols-$500.00 for a pistol and put it in a $25.00 holster.

Josh:

Sometimes that old Uncle Mikes just works the best. If it is raining cats and dogs or I am in a boat, a wet Uncle Mikes beats a wet Galco or Don Hume for my S&W Mountain Gun.

I agree about the rings, generally. However, the Leupold Dual Dovetails or the QRW are very strong. Good enough for most shooters. What sold me on the Badger base with its extension over the barrel was the ability to position the rings far apart for more stability.

Hi, Bill!

That stock is in it's original olive drab color, and it came off an early 700PSS, no kidding! The barreled action began life as a 700VLS, since there's no difference between the varmint and police models save for the furniture when they leave Remington. (I saved a couple hundred bucks, in other words) It's an H-S Precision composite with aluminum bedding block, but I got it from a local sheriff's office that had updated their 700PSS rifles to the McMillan A2, hence the surplus of original 700PSS stocks like that green one.

I have been very pleased with the Leupold QRW mounts on my LTR. But I'd look at a one piece Badger Ordnance or Iron Brigade setup for hard use.
