What rings and bases do YOU use on your Rem700 PSS or LTR?

I just picked up my new LTR yesterday, and now I am seeking rings and bases to mount my B&L scope.
Suggestions please?

Allen - On my PSS I have the Leupold rings and base holding a 4.5x14x40 mildot tactical. I chose the lowest profile rings to keep the scope as close to the barrel as possible. Works for me.

One piece bases are the best, that I have found. I have a Redfield one peice base, and rings on my 700P. You can then shim the base if needed, without bending the scope.

G21, the only one.
1911 A1 another one.
AR15 the long one.

I'm looking for bases and rings like that myself, and I hear nothing but praise for the Mark IV, Autauga, and Badger Ordnance, and apparently the Smith ones are also very good. All these are much stronger than the normal Leupold or Redfield bases and rings, and some have a built in canting to allow for more elevation adjustment. All this is only neccesary for rough "tactical" and long range use. I would also want to hear first hand experience with these brands (or similar others).

Badger here. They solidly hold a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10X40 LR M3 scope. Badger Maximized Rings and the maximized Picatinny rail one piece base. Badger bases have a recoil stop. My rings were so perfectly aligned on the Badger base that lapping revealed almost 100% coverage from the start. They are precision. I bought mine from Norm Chandler at Iron Brigade Armory, too.

However, the Iron Brigade Armory one piece base al la Zensho is very nice and is cheaper than the Badger setup. The Chandler mount uses all 4 holes on the receiver unlike a Leupold one piece. It also has a recoil stop.

Leupold is now making a Long Range one-piece STD base.

Another one I will use if I get a Light Tactical Rifle in .223 ( ;)) is the Leupold 30mm dual dovetail rings in a 2 piece base.

I hear the LTR calling. :D

Iron Brigade Armory mount. Solid, one piece with the rings brazed on. An option on this mount is to clip slot it. I am happy with it. It runs about $175.00.

Allen: If you just want to spend a lot of money on rings and bases, go with the Badgers or the other higher priced mounts. I would save my money, and buy some Leupold bases and rings. I have two piece Leupold bases and rings with rear windage adjustable and dovetail front. Also, Leupold sells a dual dovetail(front and rear) that can handle the hardest kicking magnums. Save your money, and buy some ammo. I am not saying that the other rings and bases are not that good, because they are. I just can not justify the cost of the higher priced ones because the Leupold's work, and they look good too, especially in the matte black. You did not mention the specifications of the B&L scope. Assuming that you are planning on shooting at 1000 yard distances, I do not think that you will have enough elevation adjustment in the scope to get to a 1000 yards without an angled base, and you should consider this matter before you make your purchase.

Sorry Gary, I should have said MARK 4. That is the way Leupold is printing it these days. http://www.leupold.com/wnprodpn.html . See under mounting systems. You guys are very high on the Badger and I will look into them myself. No problems with the MARK 4 rings and bases or the MARK 4 M3-10X scope either. Does Badger have a web site?
Thanks

I have an Iron Brigade Armory one piece base/rings on my LTR and wouldn't have it any other way! :)

Rainbow:

I was trying to see what they were on the photos you posted and thought it was a Chandler one-piece.

Good choice.

LTR is calling louder. ;)

I have Badger Ordanance rings and their 1 peice tappered base for my Rem700.

YES, they are expense. But it depends on what you need and how you'll use the rifle.

Since I hope to restart tactical shooting I need a setup that is rock solid. Regular bases and rings are fine 85% of the time but they just won't work for shot placement repeatibility in a field enviornment.
