What one rifle, if you had to choose between those listed, would you use if the SHTF? Why? 1-AK-47 , 2-AR-15, 3-M1A , 4-scoped bolt hunting rifle
 
One of my bolt guns would do nicely, I'd have no plans for bonzai charges, but rather distance sniping.

If I thought I needed a Mattel toy, the bolt gun could provide that, too...:D

Home invasion robbery?
UN takeover?
Massive earthquake with civil unrest?
Kodiak bear in the pup tent?

Of the rifles you list (which is very limited) the M1A has possibly the most uses.
 
Decisions Decisions. I went with the M1A, but I could have easily gone with the AR15. I guess I figured it would be easier to hunt with an M1A if I had to.
 
Rough choice.

I voted AK-47, just because it is extremely reliable and durable, but all are dependable firearms.

Garand hands down. As reliable as an AK. Hits harder than a AR. Easier to carry ammo and Loads faster than an M1A. More accurate than a FAL. And, it was the rifle America used when we used to win wars.
 
This was another easy one. The magnificent M-1A would be my choice. It is rugged, durable and made here. It is an example of American workmanship from back when America was still on the rise. It is the finest battle rifle that this country has ever fielded and mine will be the very last gun that I sold if times got hard. All else would be sold before my M-1A, that's how much I love mine. I also like my AKs but not nearly as much as my M-1A.

The Car 15 although mine wears an Eotech holo sight and back up iron and a surefire millenium foreend light as well as a giles sling and but stock mag pouch. I train with this rifle I have learned how this rifle works and I know how to keep it going and I maintain it. I do bet my life on it every day I go to work.

I beg to differ with the M1A being the best rifle we have used. It had the shortest service life for a reason. The Fal is a much better 308 battle rifle. The ar15 is the best rifle we have used to date.

A SIG 510 for battle rifle application, a SIG 550 for CQB, where the
.223 ain't too much of a liability rangewise (when I score a hit, I
want the target to be completely dead).

If I were in the US when SHTF, I'd grab the next-best AR since I know
how to handle the rifle, trained all the failure drills etc, and then
I'd aquire a FAL, or a Garand to get some range.

Where's the lever guns?!?! My bacon is protected by a Winchester 94 more often than naught at casa RAE. Semi autos and even bolt actions are akward for a righty shooting lefty. Lever actions are puuuurfect.
 
I would trust my life with the AK, SKS, SAVAGE .308, Winchester M-94 .30-30, and my Ruger 10/22.

But for legal sakes the SKS:D

I voted for the scoped hunting rifle. If you're talking survival, then it's the best choice for taking game. If you're talking invasion of the US or government-run-amok, it can be used to obtain any of the others (or better) to your liking.
 
30-06 Hunting Rifle Scoped.

In an Urban Warzone I would take the AK-47 though.

Still I am a sniper by personality.
 
Well I've had to rely on an M16A2 for real so I trust it. I have to say AR,hopefully a model that fits the military specs.
