What percentage of your handguns come from an American owned company?

Mostly US

17 auto pistols, only 3 not US
11 revolvers, only 1 not US
2 single shots, all US
so, rounding off, it comes out 87% US, 13% foreign

rifles would be a lot different, cause of all the milsurps, but then you didn't ask about rifles!;)

Wheel guns about 90% USA, Semi's about 65%, rifle's 50/50, shotguns 100% American, muzzleloaders 50/50. When you look at the big picture, many American companies sell guns made overseas and some buy parts overseas and assemble them here or vice versa. Made in America isn't always truthful, but you can usually depend on the cardboard it came in being made in America.

I have no idea. I don't care. I buy the best product for the price available. I do not believe someone pulling a lever in the US should be paid more than someone pulling that same lever in another country.

Unless that is your son pulling the lever. I'm sad to see such apathy with respect to trade practices, because it does matter. I'm not saying don't buy foreign firearms--I'm just suggesting that everyone try to support the US economy when you can, even if it means paying 10% more, for what goes around comes around.

I'm 6/6 American, but the newest of these was made in the 1980s.

So is this by American BASED companies or does the pistol have to be made in America? Guns like some of the Springfields which is an American company but has guns made in Brazil and Croatia? And what about guns like the Sig which can be made in America, but a foreign company? Or in the case of Sig, does the parent company matter or do we consider it Sig Sauer which is US based?

In the end, with all the international inbreeding...does it really matter?

By company:

3 Sigs (US or foreign depending on how you look at it)
1 Springfield (US, or foreign if you consider build location)
1 Browning (US)
1 STI (US)
1 SVI (US)
1 Wilson Combat (US)
1 Fusion (US)

Revolvers: 1
US company: 1
Foreign company

Semi autos: 6
US company: 1
Foreign company/arsenal: 5

First post in a looong time, hi everybody !

I'm 100% American made, cars and guns. Even the chinese parts in my Colts are gone, gone, gone. Of course, I only have 1911s. No real reason to go foreign on an american original. If you want industries like the gun industry in america, you better damn well support it! Too many people want to save a buck now, and lose their job later so they can't afford squat!

I liked the days when "Made in America" meant the best, and America did more than produce debt. Guess I'm a dinosaur.

S&W (2), H&R (1), Taurus (1), Kel-Tec (1), NAA (1), FN (1)

What ever that percentage is. I assume that the Taurus (Brazil) and FN (Belgium) are foreign and the others are US but nowdays who knows.

7 Long guns I am pretty sure are all US except one old 16 Ga. single barrel that doesn't have a brand or serial number on it.

And what about guns like the Sig which can be made in America, but a foreign company?
Didn't Sig Sauer get bought by SIGARMS, their American importer (prompting the name change from SIGARMS to just Sig Sauer), now making them an American owned company?

Yep. $12 a day is enough for anyone, anywhere.

I honestly don't have a clue who owns what. Are they publicly traded? I have some Smiths. Is S&W still all USA? I have 1 W German Sig and 2 Exeter models. I have a couple of Kahrs. Is Justin Moon American? I'm pretty sure my NAA BW 22 is mostly American (probably built by illegal labor). Who knows?
The real estate, the corporations, the power, oil, and utilities are all globally owned.
The only thing we (USAmericans) seem to own is our wars. When "they" call in their debts, I'm sure they'll let us keep those.

The positive side is.....I am armed.

The absurdity of that statement boggles the mind.

At any rate, my semi-autos are 60% and my revolvers are 100%.

It is not that absurd. They clearly just feel that every nation should obtain third world conditions and that only owners of business deserve to make money. That is pretty much the principle idea behind free trade agreements and tax shelters. :)

Kind of depends on when FN bought out Browning. I think they were all pre-FN ownership. But then again Browning didn't make anything to speak of on their own.
3 Brownings
1 Colt
2 furiners, Israeli and Philipine
