Constitution Party is my favorite - its written platform is closest to my ideals/philosohphy, regardless of the test.

As a card carrying member of both the Missouri State and the National Libertarian party I'm not at all surprised at the outcome of this quiz. The LP also refers to itself as the party of "self government" and the party of "common sense". I think most of us would portray ourselves in this vain. Although I don't consider myself in "lock step" with every aspect of the Libertarian platform, it sur beats the hell out of whoever is in 2nd. place!

Even though I've pretty much given up on electing politicians as a way to change things, I took the poll on a whim:

1) Libertarian Party 96%
2) Constitution Party 64%
3) Republican Party 44%
4) Reform Party 44%
5) Democratic Party 32%
6) Green Party 28%
7) Natural Law Party 16%

The bigger surprise for me is that I didn't think the Natural Law Party was that far away from the Libertarian Party, compared with the others. The lesser surprise is that I didn't score 100% Libertarian.

This is an interesting parlor game, something along the lines of the "World's Smallest Political Quiz" offered by the Advocates for Self-Government. http://www.self-gov.org/wspq.html The WSPQ is geared towards ideology rather than Party affiliations, and graphicly shows the relationships among them.

There is a logical reason, of course, why Libertarians and Constitutionalists are so close together. The Founders themselves were proto-libertarians, and many modern libertarians favor a return to Constitutional government as a large step in the right direction.

Of course, all this is academic, because the Repubs and Demos have a deathlock on our political system -- third parties will never be able to compete effectively on their terms. Which is why I've given up on electing politicians as a way to change things.
