What nigtmares frighten you?

I have been reading a lot lately about the fears that MOMS have concerning guns and how violent guns are. That men and women of the liberal ilk have a heart felt fear of guns.

Well, I then asked my eight (8) year old son, if he ever had nightmares. He answered in the affirmiative. I asked him what they were about. He said someone taking him out of his window. Or the boogey man getting him.

Then I asked my four year old daughter, she said she was scared of the boogey man, and the monsters in her closet at night. She did not related to dreams, so I let that question go.

My wife, explained that she had nightmares of someone taking the children, not being able to find the children. The house on fire, and her drowning trying to save the children.

I myself, have nightmares, with lost court papers, misfilled briefs, deadline missed and the same general nightmares about the children that my wife has.

Not content with my small family, I asked several friends about their nightmares and they responded, flying and then falling to earth. Fires, drowning, running from someone or something. Getting attacked by someone or something. Bugs, snakes, large animals, dogs, cats, rats, birds, trees that come to life and most of all loosing their children in a store, or having someone take their children.

Strange, not one person mentioned they had nightmares of firearms, guns, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, or rifles.

When dealing with fear that is subconscious, it shows the ornate feelings of being truly afraid on a primordal plain.

What do you have nightmares about? This is a serious inquiry on my part.

Do you have nightmare about firearms chasing you? Or do you have nightmares about the boogey man, using the firearm on you or your family.

What are your most basic fears that invade your dreams and cause you to wake up in a cold sweat?

I venture to guess, that people are not genuinely afraid of firearms, that they are genuinely afraid of the boodey man. And that the boogey man is the criminals who invade or psyche and make us live in fear for our family.

What are you thoughts?

For several years after returning from Viet Nam I had
a reoccurring nightmare that my unit was under attack,
it was at night and I was unable to find my weapon.

This would be a nightmare about guns…but only because
I couldn't find mine.

I've had a few gun-related nightmares, but none for a while now. Usually it involves not being able to pull the trigger, or that the bullet travels in ultra s - l - o - w motion or has no effect.

Other than that, and something about trains and tunnels, nothing memorable. ;)

Keep on shooting

I've had pleanty of dreams where I'm confronted by a armed faction , I go to pick up my gun and the SOB falls apart or as DorGunR I can't find it at all.

After my friend died I had nightmares that the bullet hit me as well, but the gun never chased me or anything like that. Any other firearm dream I have I am actually a good shooter and wish I hadn't woken up. I usually will wake up from a nightmare that has to do with someone taking my daughter, or someone dying. Never have I had a dream I was shot or someone was trying to shoot me.

I have nightmares about BG's having my family and my gun won't shoot because of bad ammo, it jams, or it's broken. I always wake up in a cold sweat.

I have had a few nightmares about guns, but it was only because I did not have one to defend myself with.

I can't say that I have nightmares. Can't remember one if I did. Nearest thing to one is about the feds invading the home. But it always comes out alright. I'm able to hold them off until the rest of the community gets there. It's then a quick little war with the good guys winning. I've only had this dream a couple of times. Most of the time my dreams are very pleasant. The only time I even know that I was dreaming is when I get woke up.

What with a former guest of the KGB as the President and kids being indoctrinated with crypto-totalitarian ideology disguised as "tolerance and diversity training," reality itself is mortifying.

Waking life is frightening enough these days.

I used to have nightmares of shape-shifters, T-1000 robot like things that would change from a pleasant enough person into a monster bent on eating my flesh.

My nightmare came true in '92.

Dreams. mind ramblings. I had a nasty one where I was shot by a sleazy guy with an automatic that had no bore in the barrel. A sickening "POP" and everything was black, and the thought "not even a fighting chance, too sudden to put up any resistance" I then woke up from death, bolt upright in my bed. A real inspiration it was.

Course that one doesn't really frighten me.
Had a nightmare the other night that we got into financial trouble and lost our house...that one was frightening.

Yeaahhhh Suuuurrrre...you bet...!

1) That someone stumbles across the grave sites.

2) That I have to dig another grave in the winter time......(ground is way hard...and usually I have to bury too shallow).

3) That some new housing development will spring up....exposing the rotting corpses of my enemy's.

4) That they will stop making my favorite barbecue sauce...." munching on my victims....would just never be the same."

5) That someone would take the above list as being true... :)
