Chris B, Agree, i first thought the post was for laughs and giggles but later found out some folks are taking the sound of slide movement serious.
When the pistol fires you will not hear that sound anyway.
Get you some Bluetooth headphones and loudly play whatever mechanical sound impresses you the most as you play with or fire the the gun. That way you'll never have to worry about what it sounds like. I would suggest something along the lines of a Merlin in a P-51 being started or doing a low altitude fly-by.
Ummm not sure how this thread degenerated but I will say that the SOUND of an unloaded semi-auto pistol being racked is a sound that my ears and my brain LOVES, it is an addicting sound and some sound better than others and some sound way, way better than others.
The sound of a S&W Performance Center target pistol seems custom made for my ears. The sound releases endorphins.
Many factories overlube new pistols, mainly for preservation in storage. No factory knows how long a gun will be in storage, but it could be years, so they often use a heavy coat of fairly thick preservative oil. That is why many new guns can have a different sound than a normally lubricated gun. Once the first owner cleans the gun and applies normal lubrication, the sound changes.
The only fully plastic part (other than the grips) is the recoil spring guide. The other "plastic" parts are metal core parts overcoated with plastic.
None of the parts that strike against each other during the slide rack are plastic or plastic overcoated so they shouldn't affect the noise of the slide rack.
