What is your preferred big game hunting bullet?

I guess I would have to say the Nosler Partition. This is really just a carryover from what Dad and Grandpa always loaded though. I havent' really tried a lot of others. Still though, over the years many a whitetail and elk have fallen to a Nosler Partition out of a 30-06 or 7mm mag.

I have loaded up a few Nosler Balistic tips too, and found that .257 Weatherby + 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip = Instant Dead Whitetail.

So what do you guys like?

Lately I have had the itch to load up something new and was wondering what was the hot ticket. I am sure that it is hard to go wrong loading premium bullets nowadays, I may try some Barnes Tripleshocks or some Swift A-frames or Scirricos (or hawever you spell that). I think those are the ones that appeal to me the most.

Winchester Ballistic Siver Tips are basically just a Nosler Ballistic Tip with some type of lube coating on the outside right?

Nosler Accubond. I find it performs similarly to the Partition, but with better external ballistics.

I am loading a 160 gr Accubond to about 2970 fps in my 7 Mag. It shoot itty-bitty groups in my M700BDL, and puts game down with good expansion and excellent penetration.

Sierra Game Kings for deer, pronghorn and smaller. For elk and bear if I'm using a small calibers up to .30 caliber then I'd use the Partition. If I use at least a 180 grain in a .30 caliber then I'm happy again with Sierra bullets for elk and bear. None of my larger calibers require a premium bullet unless I'm trying to use really lightweight ones for caliber.

i have had excellent results with Hornady sst bullets on whitetail. the scirocco is also a fine bullet but a little pricier.

Still using Remy's Core-Lokts in my .270. They've always gotten the job done for me.

Picked up some Hornady Leverevolutions for my .45-70 but haven't used them yet. Anxious to try them out though.

For bigger critters, it's the Nosler Partition for me, but regular old bullets for anything smaller will always work good enough.

Plain old deer hunting, well a good Remington, winchester, federal, etc.. soft point will do fine. No need for fancy stuff.

Elk or such, I use Nosler Partitions. Yes there are others that work great, like Barnes, but heck the Nosler has been around for ages and works fine.

I've been using Winchester Ballistic Tips for my 7mm Rem Mag and .308. For my 45/70 I've been using Core-Lokts.

As a matter of fact I had great success with Core-Lokts and only switched to Ballistic Tips because the Core-Lokts are so dirty to shoot.

I got to using Sierras, and have been happy as a bug with them. 85-grain HPBTs in my .243, mostly 150-grain SPBTs in my '06. I guess maybe 35 or so deer with those. Mostly one-shot DRTs.

I like the Sierra ProHunter and GameKings because they're still about $23/100, shoot well, and perform well. I have a small supply of Nosler Ballistic Tips in 30 cal I'm keeping for the 06 and deer seasons. They're pricier, but performance is great.
