What is your favorite defensive load? Strictly for self defense.

Life is great if you can survive it!

Depends on which weapon I am carrying, but lately it is my Beretta Cougar 8040 with 135 Grain Federal Hydro-Shok's.

As a group, I really like the Federal HydrShok rounds. They shoot accurately in all the guns so far, deliver adequate power and yet do not have excessive recoil in my pistols. The WW Ranger SXT ammo is very good also. I'm partial to the older WW Silvertip ammo, but I like the heavier weights. The CCI GoldDot ammo has horsepower, but has more blast and recoil than I care to handle. The Remington Gold Sabre is accurate, but subjectively is not as powerful.
My apologies to Remington and CCI; bear in mind these are my subjective opinions.

My very favorite defense load is a 245 grain SWC lead bullet at about 950 f/s from an N frame Smith revolver. But it's rather passe these days.

Been using the Hydrashocks (and a couple of Glaser Safety Slugs on top). In .45 and 9mm. Have some Hornady's I ordered that worked fine but I need to try them out further.
