What is the best deal between these 2. Need to choose by this afternoon. Help Please

WV Sig has the answer.....pass on both especially if the Mak is a double stack pistol, horrible problems with mag feed and grip felt odd. If you are looking for a Combloc pistol go for a CZ 82 which is a really super shooter particularly with a set of checkered walnut grips...mine is ceracoated platinum over black. The best buy right now is the Makarov from Bulgaria in unissued condition for about the same money (Aim Surplus, SOG and others).

The Makarov is not double stacked and I thank you for the SOG website. The ones there are a lot newer and cheaper. Plenty of great buys I would say.

I think IBmikey was referring to a double-stack Mak that was commercially produced in Russia back in the 90s and chambered in 380acp
I have one in 9mm Mak. To me, it was worthwhile for the price (under $200), to complement the other pistols I have in this caliber. For the record, it will also work with standard mags, they just wiggle in the mag well.

problems vs a CZ 82 (another doublestack in 9x18):
  • mags are rare and expensive. The OEM ones are nearly impossible to find, and even the Promags are usu over $50
  • The Promag mags are very unreliable, and take a lot of tweaking to make work right
  • The capacity is still lower. These mags are capped out at 10; you might be able to adjust the OEM (at the risk of ruining a $100 item). The CZ 82 has a 12 rd mag
  • The controls are not user-friendly. Mag release is in the heel of the grip, and the safety is just on the left side of the slide. The CZ 82 has abidextrous mag release on the trigger and ambidextrous safety on the frame

And she is finally home. Looks like very low count as the mags are virtually new and is very very clean.

I guess i got confused in this matter, i thought you had a Makarov lined up for purchase and a CZ 97 somehow entered the picture....not familiar with that pistol but appears to be full size compared to the Mak. Went back and found the CZ post, enjoy your new pistol but check, out the Bulgarian Mac for an easier carry pistol.

For the money that was being asked for the Makarov or the CZ52, the opinion of many was that it was too high. Another poster suggested the SOG website and they have un-issued Makarovs for less money and in much better condition. I will probably end up ordering one from them later on.
