What is everybody using on dove?

20 gauge and 7 1/2. Mr. Mossberg because I want to stay out of jail and rifle shooting game birds will get my guns and my hunting/fishing privileges taken away.

I did kill one with a sling shot once about 36 years ago. Never dreamed I would hit it. Made a fire and ate the evidence right then and there and burned the remains while my buddy and I sat back and laughed about the only time in my life I ever hit anything with my slingshot on purpose. That dove is still the only game I have ever gotten with my slingshot. Many rabbits and squirrels have gone home that night to tell about this doofus who couldn't hit a tree from 6' let alone a sitting animal at 20'. I still have 3 slingshots and I still can't hit a thing with them.

I use an over/under 12ga that is choked at IC and Modified. I use #8's cause I want all the shot I can get. I believe that 7 1/2 is a better choice though.

My daughter uses a 20ga mossy pump with an IC choke and #8's.

We are waiting on the second season because not many corn fields were combined here yet.

I prefer the larger #6 because it's a hit or miss scenario and I'm not trying to pick sand sized shot out of the meat. #6 in a full choke and long bbl. will also buy some extra range before they REALLY start weaving on an active field.

For doves, I prefer 1 oz loads of #7 1/2 shot in 20 gauge O/U with 26" barrels, mostly using IC and Mod chokes. Sometimes I use IC in both barrels when birds are flying close. Had more crippled birds with #8 shot than with #7 1/2 so discontinued using #8.
