What is a good slug gun?

I'd like to see a poll on who thinks a 12 guage with a rifled barrel is a rifle. Can you then consider a .243 with a charge of birdshot a shotgun? Come on, give me a break. This thread should be moved. What do you say MODS? This shouldn't even be an issue. And I challenge FirstFreedom to a technacalities off. LOL Guess I'll start having to tell people I have a 12 guage rifle. LOL WTF
 
A shotgun is a shotgun, shooting slugs or shot.
A rifle shooting shot is still a rifle just as a shotgun shooting slugs is a shotgun IMHO.
Is a smooth bore 22 rifle a shotgun when shooting 22 shot shells? No it is a 22 rifle.

So whats my Contender with the 45/410 barrel when shooting a 410 or a 45?
My guess would be pistol both times.

Sorry JsOnt, I have so far never hunted with slugs. I have considered it and would lean toward the Mossberg as I am a lefty and would like the tang safety
 
I was very late in noticing this thread in the rifle forum.

Based upon the original question, posed in post #1, this thread indeed belongs in Shotguns forum.

If someone started a thread in the Rifle forum, expressly dedicated to rifled-barrel shotguns, I'd be inclined to leave it there.

Hey all I wanted to no was what was a good slug gun and i thank the people who told me their opinions of a good slug gun but I didnt mean to start an arguement.
Plus, all i did was put it in the wrong category and yall blow a top over it. And I get a lot of suggestions of a slug gun and when i put a ? about the remington 597 almost nobody says anytin bout it so maybe wen yall are arguin bout me puttin sometin in the wrong category yall can tell me wat u think about the 597. lol
 
and hey i have a mossberg slug gun and we put a scope on it and the highest it will shoot is about 8 inches below the target so we sent it in last year and this year its doin the same thing so we took the scope off of it and now its shootin horrible and its goin all over the place so i was gonna trade it in so wat should i do

I guess i should of said that before yall said mossberg

That's a .22 rifle. I thought you were asking about slug-launching devices?

LOL this is great, first you start a shotgun thread in the rifle forum, now your asking about a rifle in the same thread... and now it's in the shotgun forum LOL :p Anyway, I'll take a muzzleloader over a slug gun anyday, and I love my 597. But it's a 597 Magnum LS HB in .17HMR. Very accurate and very deadly on ghogs, coyote to about 100 yards. And I wasn't blowing my top. I just like debate and I also am kind of a perfectionist. I like everything where it's supposed to be. That is why I love shooting accurate rifle's so much. If I were to do it, I would have started the slug gun thread in the shotguns forum, then if I had a question about a rifle, I would have started a new thread in the rifle forum. You can have as many threads open as you want. And good job Johnny.
