Well, my use of the phrase "the odds are" is going to start a big fight but...

The odds are VERY good (by "very good" I mean astronomically beyond all comprehension, somebody give me a real instance where it has happened) that your wife will never need your CCW. If she wants to carry then get her a gun. If your worried about your being incapacitated and her needing to defend you and her with your gun, well, there are better things to worry about... like don't walk to close together in case you get it by lightning, that way it won't get you both.

Please read this: www.corneredcat.com/RunGun/rack.aspx

I don't know why you'd consider changing your carry gun simply because she cannot use it. It sounds as if she has her own anyway.

(And, I always carry one in the chamber myself regardless. It sounds as if you are carrying an unloaded gun?)

"my wife has a revolver for her cc", sounds like she is good to go. The best is have guns that you both can use, if need be. Truth be known you whould be better off with a revolver also. orchidhunter

I carry a seecamp it is one of the most difficult pistols to make safe .example you get stopped for a traffic violation .or go to the hospital.it was my choice for cc.i am going to live with it .my guns are always loaded .a empty gun is a rock:rolleyes:

I asked because, if it's loaded, there's no need to manipulate the slide again until it's either empty or jammed -- it can certainly be fired without doing anything to the slide. So it seemed an odd question, and I was just trying to figure out the history behind it. No offense intended.

pax thankyou .it might be something to think about .alot of people don't know how to make a gun safe .a local leo did not know how to make my seecamp safe.ps my wife look at the corneredcat mrt

read post #6 not just for sd .but for making it safe .unloading.if you own a seecamp you will understand the design.

A> SWMBO nominally can't (or won't) shoot my daily carry. She has arthritis, can't operate the slide, and is intimidated by autoloaders. Not only that, she is recoil sensitive and knows in her head that she doesn't want to shoot it. After all, I did tell her that the recoil on that little dude isn't pleasant.

B> I'm not really concerned about that. The only time she'd need to shoot it is if we weren't at home (she has her bedside .38 but doesn't carry) and I wasn't able to shoot it myself -- if I was injured and down, in other words. In such a case, I'm sure that she'd pick it up and use it anyway. If I were down, it'd be a life-or-death situation and she's not one to go down with a whimper. I have shown her how to use it, she understands the operation well enough to pick it up and return fire in an emergency. I can't really ask for any better than that from her.

MRT, when you say 'make safe', are you talking about the carry condition (i.e. I, II, or III)? Or are you talking about simply unloading it? I'm asking because I'm unfamiliar with the Seecamp.

Mine has a Model 10 Smith and a Taurus Ultralight she can fire anytime someone gets silly trying to get in the house.

Point the gun,Pull the trigger-can't get any simpler than that.

My semi auto's if I carry them-if trouble comes calling-they are loaded and the safety's are off.

She does'nt have to rack any slide.

Point the gun,pull the trigger.

Unloading. My wife has arthrits. that makes things harder to grip a small auto. Maybe A fourm member who owns a seecamp could bail me out . PBP owns two seecamp's .HELP THANKS IN ADVANCE MRT.

MRT,

My wife has a similar problem. That's why I got her a Beretta Tomcat. It has a tip-up barrel. You don't have to rack the slide. You simply load the magazine, then load a round into the barrel. You can then cock the hammer and use it in single action, or in double action.

My lovely woman can shoot all of mine but she has slide-racking problems with some. But, that should never be an issue because one's always in the chamber.

She shoots the Makarov well but has the most problems with that particular slide.
