Haven't really done much yet (only fought off the liberal brainwashing back in January or so, bout the same time as my 18th birthday too), but I've talked to a few friends about my views on gun ownership, how studies show that gun control doesn't work, how Waco was covered up (speaking of which if anyone has links that would lead me to a site with good info about some of the practices of the Branch Davidians, I'd appreciate it. A lot of people are still buying the government drivel about illegal weapons, kidnapping, etc.), etc. Haven't made a convert yet, but I've at least gotten them to think about it instead of just acting on emotion and ideology. We live in pretty good neighborhoods and being in an IB program (kind of like Advanced Placement courses that are set to an international guideline) means that we're surrounded by people with great minds which also means that we're sheltered from "normal" students. When some of them go off to college and get some more exposure to reality, then they might think back about what I've said and join us. Thanks to great history teachers, they're also probably more likely to see the threat of a government with too much control (one seems to be either a neo-conservative or libertarian, possibly both, while the other has various relatives that had to deal with either the Nazis or the Gulag and is an NRA member.)
Wish I could be there for the SAS march, but alas I'm in the middle of IB and AP exams and might have problems getting transportation.
I've done some work on a pro-gun and knife web page (yes, I migrated over from Bladeforums
) but lack of time is a problem. Originally was supposed to be a summary of Nation of Cowards and a few other articles, wound up turning into something bigger, and now I want to back it up with research . . .
Probably should start reading the Washington Post just to write letters to the editor anytime a gun article is run in that liberal playground.
It's an uphill battle that's fought a day at a time. You might not be able to convert some of the ones that simply refuse to listen (the 'net has an interesting tendency to make people more confident in their beliefs) but most people will stop to think about what you have to say.
