What handgun would you like to see made that would make money?

I want a good light weight carry size .45 Colt in double action. I know Taurus made one for a while, but not anymore. I'd like it to say S&W or Ruger on the side too.

I also had an idea for a simmilar gun but it would chamber a 500 special. If they shortened the 500 magnum and reduced the load it would be a good self defence round. Going with the big slow bullet philosophy of your typical .45 Auto, only more so.

definitely a DA top-break and a Glock in .22LR. every time i see the "Glock 22" i get excited, then realize it's a .40 S&W. oh well, i like that round too.

a .500 Special would be excellent. I don't like 8-inch monster revolvers, but shorten the cases a bit and a 4-6" barrel woud be a lot of fun i think. wish i reloaded so I could try it out myself.

I would also like to see Smith & Wesson do atleast a limited run of their 3rd generations again. A Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm is also a good idea as previously posted.

I have two I would like to see.

1. A modernized 1911esque pistol. Steel with a semi-staggered mag....maybe 10-11 rds rather than trying to force the 14rd paraord mag to work. Go with the external extractor, and maybe even drop the link system in favor of a more modern modified browning system.
Or course, no locks or screwball extra safeties that like to break.

2. A modernized Browning High Power. Something that should have been done long long ago. Redesign to eliminate the mag disconnect, thus allowing a redesigned trigger a la C&S that is much better, a more positive safety, and finally a better hammer that doesn't BITE 80% OF ALL USERS!!!!!

I actually think these would sell.

I wished the Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer less in 32 acp would be made again. It seems as if EVERYONE is making the 1911 these days, why not this classic?

I wish Bersa would do their thunder .380 line in 9mm. Alloy frame, steel slide, single stack. Same dimensions as the .380. I have the Thunder .380CT and the ThunderUC9, but I'd like the smaller one in 9.

And I second the notion of the return of the S&W 3rd Gens.

Can't do it without using a huge, heavy slide, and then it looks like a Hi-Point.

The Bersa .380 is a blowback design, and the 9mm round generates too much pressure for that design in most handguns

5 shot .44 spl revolver on the K frame w/ 3" barrel

I do not know whether the dimensions would work; but I'd like a S&W 5 shot .44 special revolver on the K frame with a 3" barrel.
An alloy frame might be nice.
It should be designed to handle +P loads; up to 18,500 like a .38 spl +P.
The S&W 396 Nightguard was on the L-Frame. Good gun but a little large for what I have in mind.

Over/under 500 S&W

A 6.5" double barreled over/under double action pistol chambered for 500 S&W or .460 S&W or some other major caliber.

The single purpose of this gun would be for defense against dangerous game, up close. Kind of like the old "Howdah" pistols of the 1800's and early 1900s carried by big game hunters in Africa.

Lighter than the X-frame Smiths or the big Rugers, weight on a par with the lightest titanium revolvers, the over-under would be more compact. You give up 3 out of the usual 5 rounds available in such revolvers, but when you are jumped by a bear in the woods, how many rounds can you put on target anyway?

If you think that recoil will be fierce, you are right. But I have two points. Nobody flinches on the first shot. With the adrenaline pumping, you won't care, or probably even notice.

Lost Sheep

Simple enough, just a S&W Model 29, with fine bluing, old style 6.5" barrel, action job, and old style Target grips. Let's leave out the the internal lock, milled parts, but keep the minor improvements that make the N-frames stronger. They could could put "DHC" ahead of the serial numbers, with no other frills. This would be a limited number tribute to "Dirty Harry's" gun. Something they SHOULD have done a long time ago, but never did.
