I pretty much have the core of what I want, but there are a few loose ends I'd like to acquire in the next couple of years:
- Replacement for my what-was-I-thinking! traded away 4" Redhawk .44, or perhaps this time a Super Blackhawk SA in .44
- A 4" .357 in either GP100 or S&W
- Lever actions in .357 and .44
- Another good bolt action in Stainless for .30-06 and another in .243 or .260
This past year was focused more on upgrading sighting devices as my eyes do not focus the front sight very well except on a longer rifle like the Garand. I dragged my feet for many years to put anything other than a variable scope on my guns, but I am a believer in some of the other options.
- Red dot sights like the Aimpoint are amazing for out to about 150 yds (for me anyway). I don't have to search for the sight against the background or target in the low light of NW winter and shadow. Very fast targeting. Makes plinking with the AR, Garand and Carbine even more fun!
- Crimson Trace grip lasers. Not going to replace iron sights of course, but these are way better than I imagined. Handgun front sights are especially harder for me to see well and the CT laser is very visible and easy to use, and very small compared to any kind of slide mounted optic.
