What gun/cartridge for T rex and other dino's?

An M2/M3 Bradley might work, too.

You've got the 25mm dualfeed chaingun for those pinpoint T-Rex shots, two TOW2's for the kill and cook shots. Or when the critter just won't get the hint. And a coax 7.62 for repelling Utahraptor boardings.

Room for six baggage handlers, and a decent amount of armour.

:D

Well, I have a .458...so if I were going to hunt I'd load it with 600 grain solids. But if I were buying I'd either get a 600 Nitro Express or a 585 Nyati. :D

Has anyone ever read the sci-fi short story "A Gun For Dinosaur" by (I think) Alan Dean Foster? Rilly, rilly good read along this topic.

.600 Nitro Express (Or .460 Weatherby Magnum with the right bullets...)

10mm: It's not the size of the Dawg in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog!

I actually looked at some numbers on this and talked to a buddy who has a Masters in Military History.

The Bradley is heavier than all the carnosaurs as I recall [unless they have found some bigger ones since I last looked].

And a M1 Abrahms out masses any dino that lived [again based on what I could find at the time...about 7 or 8 years ago].

The impression I got from my buddy with the miltary history degree was that LAW's & TOW's and such might not detonate reliably against a "soft" target.

Also modern TOW's are design to fly over tank and blow downwards to hit the thin top armour.

There can be only one!

You have a Striker 12? What do you want for it :D

I would have to go with something nuclear, say in the 4-6 kiloton range. Maybe a LANCE missle.

ROTFLMAO!!! Thank the Lord I finished my coke before reading that post. Reminds me of the joke where Barbara Walters says "oh dear" and the chief says "no, never deer, run too fast, butt too high!"

I was thinking about pack tactics versus armor. If a carnosaur were able to jump on the AFV, wouldn't it be able to destroy the armament by standing on it? Say a 1 ton allosaur strolling across the tank? Can't be good for the paint.

Better yet, tell ATF it's got an evil gun and a Bible. That way, they'll shoot it then burn it for you. Freshly cooked T-Rex.

I think leading it down a path to some anti- tank mines would work best. No more mobility means no more threat.

Where TF I'd get some anti-tank mines I don't have a clue.

If I had to work with what I have at this moment I think I would run.

Don't run, unless you want to get et. No way in hell a human could outrun a carnosaur.

And with that, let's go with Part II.
