What Else Do I Need?

Striker fired 9mm pistol

quality target .22 pistol my vote is for a buckmark but ruger's are nice.

maybe some cheaper military pistols like the tokarev.

If I were you I would get rid of a hammer fired 9mm you seem to have quite a few(I'd ditch the px4).

Maybe consider breaking into competitive shooting/steel challenge its a blast and a good alternative to standing and shooting paper.

Reloading is a fun and viable way to save money/build loads for target practice.

Yeah, I know. I went on a 9mm buying spree last year and picked up the P226, the 92fs, the SP2022, and the PX4. Want to keep them all for now as they are so new to me... but a 9mm 1911 is really sounding intriguing. I like 9mm due to it being powerful enough for home defense but having the lower cost of ammunition.

A steel framed 1911 9mm, something like an STI Spartan, might be up my alley the next year or so. May ditch the P226... we'll see.

Thanks all... this was a fun little exercise in community input.

I'm really latching onto the 9mm 1911 idea. I enjoy the 9mm cartridge for all the reasons previously mentioned, and like the 1911 platform and crisp SA trigger. I also enjoy how 9mms shoot out of full sized, steel framed guns.

Am almost 100% confirmed on getting an STI Spartan in 9mm in the upcoming months.

Thanks again!

No black powder???!!!!

Smelly and messy yes. But, come on! You need one as a tie back to our roots. Watch 'Outlaw Josey Wales' and see if you don't need one.

It seems to me that you have most bases covered with very respectable choices. Now you need something just for the fun of it.
My suggestions would be:
1. Ruger Vaquero (original model) in 44 Mag
2. Colt Python
3. S&W revovler in .22LR
4. Ruger MK II or MK III .22LR
5. 3" S&W 65 (for carry)
6. Colt SAA in 45 Colt

I know some are rather expensive but hey you go around only once in life so you might as well go enjoying it.

Ruger MKII might be in my future, but if I do get a .22 I like the feel of the Buckmark a little better from what I've handled.

Regarding the P-38, I have a P-1 so essentially the same gun except for the frame material.

I've somewhat fallen for the 9mm 1911 idea.

For fun in a open/wooded area on private property (the best kind of shooting to me), it's hard to imagine a better recreational gun than a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley .45 LC with 7.5" barrel. Or maybe it's hard for me to imagine it because I want one. :D It's an absolutely beautiful gun (worthy of display) and feels great in the hand and on the hip in a traditional leather holster.

The long barrel will give extra velocity/oomph and accuracy and standard pressure .45 LC is a breeze to shoot. And if you decide you want to "punish" yourself later, it's easy to find much, much hotter rounds. Too big to have a practical application other than hunting or target shooting, but very entertaining and likely to be my next purchase.

You all will be happy to know that I just rectified my lack of a .22. Just won this on gunbroker for $285 + shipping.

I thought about the Kimber .22 conversion kit for my Custom Classic Target, but the kit would cost the same as this pistol! Seemed to me that getting an entirely new firearm would be better than just getting a conversion kit.
