What does "Well Armed" mean to you?

Depends on many things, but primarily the environment you're entering. I feel well armed when running errands in my bedroom community w/ my S&W Bodyguard in a front pocket. If I'm attending a sporting event or gathering where I must walk thru unfamiliar people for some distance, I tote my LWC + 1 spare mag or G19. If I'm afield for chores or fun, then either the S&W M66 or M29 with assorted loads seems fine.

If the Apocalypse occurs, and mayhem prevails, then all bets are off. Whatever you can manage to carry would be little enough security.

I doubt Cooper would feel "armed" if all he had was a 25 auto ;)

You need, BOTH, proper Mindset & equipment.

But the point of this thread, I think, was just to get an idea about what items would make one feel "well armed". Cooper has been mentioned a couple of times. And while I respect Cooper a lot I would like to point out that he does have a certain, emotional attachment to big bores [I do myself]. He doesn't seem to feel "well armed" hunting buff without his 460 G&A. Nor well armed vs goblins without a 45 auto [or 30 caliber rifle].

My thoughts are that mindset is VERY important, and that weapon selection is tied to mindset...if you have a weapon you have FAITH in you will no doubt perform better because your stress level will be less. So if a 50 cal inspires more confidence go with it, but if a high speed small bore makes you feel better go with that.

Depends on what you mean. GD, I feel confident that I can handle anything one can possibly plan for. (There's always the exception! :)) I now have a relaxed awareness, as opposed to the hypertense, head swivelling I used to have. I train hard, and stay aware, so worry won't help. So I don't.

OTOH, with less than 20 firearms, I have the beginning of a small collection!

...stark, raving, sane....

Choose something that you can actually hit the target with. Never been in a firefight that wasn't military. The gun on the hip in open carry has always been sufficient.

Spectre: stark & raving yes. Sane? I don't think so ;)

I think that some people might actually feel well armed with any fair quality handgun. But I know I don't. Not saying I would strive any less just that I feel less secure about the performance of the weapon.

I have one friend who "saw the elephant" as a LEO and now prefers 44 mags for carry when he can because of the poor performance of a major caliber [ie 45 acp]. Not saying it didn't work but like Jim Cirillo mentions [my friends comments were almost the same] about shooting and HITING the goblin and it seems to have no effect.

I also have a friend who carried a 22 WMRF as a CCW and felt fine with that choice.

Some people feel fine with no weapon at all, some with pepper spray, some with a knife, some with a gun. And some really do cary enough toys to equip a friend or two and still have spares. Some people who do CCW still think your nuts if you carry a 2nd gun or even if you carry a reload.

Anyhow, I just was wondering what people here liked to carry for comfort, and I did say it wasn't for CCW ;) in particular.

'Twas a quote from Rosencrantz and Guilderstern are Dead, old chap...

If I have my wits about me, I am well armed. If I have Ma Deuce, I am better armed. :)

Well armed means having plenty of reloads of viagra to get you through the night. :D
