what do you think of the new grips?

For a barbeque gun, it doesn't look bad. A little flashy, and definitely eye catching, but that's half the point of a barbecue gun, isn't it? :D

That said, my biggest concern with the grips is their traction. I know most MOP grips can be kinda slick, and I always like a little traction in any carry gun I own.

jhideout: Just got some new mop grips for my kimber.
What do you guys think?
Classy?
Fugly?

Really dresses up that Kimber. It's a good contrast from the all black pistol and controls.

I like smooth grips too.

Were the "Kimber" text on the slide so inlayed, along with other matching scrollwork, it would be more fitting. The frame looks alright, just the slide is a bit 'Spartan' by comparison (polished blued/stainless would have a similar effect as carving it cut with chisels ;))

Mother of pearl trigger might be a good match here, too, if such a thing exists . You've got the makings of a really cool looking gun, but you're only part way there, so far.

Hey . .. if you like"em, that's all that counts.

Personally, I like things a little more plainer. That would look good though with a big silver western belt buckle and alligator boots - but you'd need a alligator holster to complete the outfit! :D

Just joshing. . . they look fine. There are a lot of different grips out there and something to appeal to everybody. They dress it up for sure! :)

I'm old-fashioned ... I like the original, double diamond Walnut grips on 1911s.
And that's precisely why you'll never be a international drug lord/assassin ;)

Besides, it could have been more (I won't say "worse");

Don't worry kiddies; its from a famous movie and the 'accessories' aren't real

Or a tacticool operator with graphite "high speed low drag" "Gunner" grips who needs these for a secure fighting hold on his chosen "platform", who "fights like he practices" for his chosen profession of back up security guard at the local "Toys-R-Us" on Sunday afternoons in Cuyahoga Falls.

What is it about Mexicans and Chiclets?

Two things: In the pic from barnbwt there is nothing even vaguely Mexican in it.He doesn't say Mexican. The guns are Springfield customs with porting. Non engraved and stock from their custom shop. The grips are a Chinese dragon motif and don't look even vaguely Mexican. The money is U.S. dollars, the prescription a U.S. style pill bottle, the joints likely filled with Colorado or Kentucky grass, the pills I don't know they're not Viagra, who knows.

The only thing Mexican might be the Chiclets. But they are in the U.S. packaging and not the Mexican packaging!

If we replaced the Chiclets with a triple Whopper with cheese, xtra large fries and a jumbo diet Coke it would be "American". What is it with Americans and the super sized stuff and a diet coke?

The op pics shows grips that are inspired by South East Asian Islamic inspired floral art with some western in them. Like I said before they don't come up and protect and cover the plunger tube like well made grips should. Mexican grip makers usually do that, cover the plunger tube. The Thai grips pictured also show too much raw wood around the grips screws. The inlay looks well done though.
