What do you shoot Skeet with?

Yep - was about skeet, that he had trouble with the 8 station high house, and he likes to shoot his older gun. Somehow morphed a little...

If we can get this back on track...

I have used a Saiga 12 (before and after the AK style pistol grip conversion), a Remington 870 Tactical (with the Knoxx SpecOps stock), and a Remington 1100. The 1100 was first, and my scores went up a bit when I went to the 870, but fit still wasn't perfect. The S12 worked fine, but still wasn't ideal. You should have seen the looks I got with the 870 and the Saiga though...

I currently use a Remington 105 CTi II, and the thing shoots like it's radar guided. No straight yet, but it fits me well and it's been 100% reliable. I just need to get more practice.

Wasn't the original thread about skeet?
Yep, you're quite right. Sorry, we got a little side tracked by an unexpected adventure into Auto-loaders in Trapland.

Was going to voice my opinion, then decided not to.
That's cool… can you tell us what you use for shooting Skeet without voicing an opinion?

I'll play. Mostly a Beretta A390ST, 30" barrel with cylinder choke. Lately a Beretta 686 with 26" barrels, cylinder and Skeet (.005").

My son shoots a Sweet 16 I got him in '89 when he was 9. I'm not sure, but I think when his wife is out of town he sleeps with it.

FOr Skeet League: Beretta 686WO 12ga 28" with extended cyl chokes in both

FOr skeet Fun Wingmaster 20ga 26" with I/C

Or SKB .410 28" fixed sk/sk

Or Browning Gold Evolve, 12ga 28" skeet <-Mainly for Clays

Of If I am really feeling cocky.. 1946 Remington Model 11, 28" Full choke:p

I only have hunting and HD shotguns, but I love to shoot with a local boy scout troop. Hitting consistently with a PG mossberg takes a lot lof practice, but peoples' reaction to it is priceless!:D

Heck, I feel kinda weird. For skeet I use my old Stevens 311. The barrels are too short, the chokes are too tight and it doesn't technically "fit me" being a bit short in the pull. But I've over looked those things for about 25 years now, I don't see any reason to stop now. Use it for sporting clays too.
And since it was brought up, I use a recently aquired 870 for trap, for soem reason I shoot it alot better than the SXS in trap, but I haven't tried doubles yet.
And since this was also brought up (boy this thread got to chasing alot of rabbits), I stared shooting the clay games alittle over a year ago and I've found nothing but a bunch of great guys who went out of their way to help out a newby. Made soem great friends and learned alot (tho apparently not enough to ditch this SXS).

A 311 by any other name is still a 311

Another vote for the good ol working man's double, the 311.
Bear in mind they are available with Sears, Wards, Western Auto, and other names on them.
Same gun, usually at a lower price point.

IMHO on of the best bargain guns around.

Do watch out for the Tenite (plastic) stocks, replacement wood is available.

Generally speaking the shorter barrels are IC/MOD (24" 26")
Longer barrels are usually MOD/FULL (28" 30")

Both of my 311s are not marked as to choke so I hope the above information is useful to someone.
