What Do You Miss The Most?

I always thought those Daewoo DR200s looked pretty neat...never actually saw one beyond the ads in gun magazines, though.

Traditional Colt DA's

The traditional Colt revolvers, especially the Diamondback and Python, have a reputation for being about the smoothest action around but one of the hardest to work on and get the timing back right if it needs it. The rebound lever does so many things inside it isn't easy to get everything back in time if you have to replace one. It isn't just a "drop in" part. Often other parts have to be replaced along with it to get it right again. If someone not familiar with the system has worked on one sometimes you have to figure out what was wrong in the first place, then what they did to it which may have compounded the problem. The local police tell me they can't carry one on a motorcycle. In a holster, saddlebag, or faring, they have been known to fall apart. I never experimented with that, but I do have to carry an ambassador fishing reel in a plastic bag on my Gold Wing so I'll have all the parts to put it back together again. Sounds ridiculous, but I think they may have a point.

Colt Python :(

They stopped making them before I was of legal age to purchase. And I just can't justify the $1200 and up to buy a used one.

Savage 99 is a good one. My biggest regret is passing on one in 308 some idiot carved a bear into the stock of on gunbroker a few years ago. Went for something like $350 or $400.

I like the Colt revolvers, but many are available on gunbroker and when you calculate their inflation adjusted prices they aren't that far off the original price from the 60's and a good many, like the various police lines are REALLY cheap.

Original M-1 Garands, Enfield #4s/#5s, SKS.

Not kidding here. Other than a pair of Spanish FR8s and .22s, those are the only guns I own (and use).

Will make a drive to the CMP in Anniston soon for a second Garand. They are always backed up with evaluating/categorizing many of their M-1s.
I had planned to drive to the Wanamaker's show in Tulsa in February (never been to a really large show), but the CMP's M-1s and M2 Ball ammo will be a much better value.

the model 19/66 and

the Ruger Service/ Security Six line. Also the old Smith model 39. The Savage model 99 in 250-3000. And the original Smith model 29 blued, My 6" was stolen when I lived in Scottsdale, I paid $325 for it from Mandalls. SMH. And just for smirks and giggles, the M1 carbine, when you could actualy afford one on a blue collar salary.
