What do you know about the shooting spree in Salt Lake City?

Selling your guns and giving up?
Bruce... What you need to do is to goto a gunshow and buy another gun!

I agree -- EXCEPT, we aren't allowed to have gunshows -- even if we did, we wouldn't be allowed to buy firearms (except froma registered dealer after obtaining a permit to purchase and supplying "need and reason" to the satisfaction of the police)

Try a .22 minirevolver for your keychain...

Absolutely illegal here

Or go the other way and buy a "Big F***ing Gun" that has more horsepower than a monster truck.

In Western Australia???? On an open licence, I could possibly be allowed to own a .222 since I have written permission from two landowners. As a member of a rifle club, I could possibly get a restricted licence to own a .308, but that would be endorsed "for club use only" and any other use would be illegal (and heavily penalised if caught -- like possibly losing all my guns and never being allowed to own one again).

But thanks for the thought. ;)

Gwinnydapooh,

You need to leave IL and move over to Indiana, we have CCW and RKBA in out state constitution. We could always use a good pro gun teacher too!

Bruce in .oz, it seems to me that you are at war now. It is up to you if you want to give up, wait for someone else to start fighting back before joining the colors or strike on your own.

Number three *looks* most hazardous to your life...just ask Mordechai Anielewitz. I think Winston Churchill had commented on that, too.

Naturally, the war on you and yours had never been declared and likely never will. It is an internal matter, right? You might not have much in the way of arms, but you have the skill to use what you got...wait a generation and that will be gone, too.

PS: You could also do what people interested in surviving have done...come to the United States or some other still-kinda free country. We need more people like you.

I just want to quote RadarMan on his post of April 16 in this thread.........

quote:
Hey guys..... be aware, this stuff usually comes in doses[/quote]

It looks like 2 libraries now... I work night crew and tonight more than once my mind went to what must be total chaos in Denver. Lord willing, this is the end of this for now.

Hi Cornered Rat

Thanks for the comments. Yes, we are fighting back -- it's slow and difficult, but we keep trying...

Even simple things can help, like introducing my daughter to target shooting (she's keen -- and good, dammit!!) or coaching/training a local junior (mainly female) sports team who needed to learn how to shoot for a tetrathlon they were in. That their parenst came along, and all got down behind the rifles to "have a go" (and enjoyed it!) was a bonus.

I've actually looked at emigrating to the USA. No hope, I'm afraid; your rules are way too tough ;-( For example, I don't think my darling wife would be too thrilled if I divorced her to marry an American woman ;-), and I can't raise the USD$1 000 000 I need otherwise to take to the US and put into a business over there.

Can still go there for holidays, though ... ;-)

I keep faith that Australia will become more hospitable in my lifetime and I will come visit it, with my girlfriend by my side, with cameras on my shoulder and a Webley on my hip...someday.

I am forcing myself to be an optimist. I had, for example, converted the fence-sitters at work so that today they were indignant that the adults in Colorado were unarmed in the face of the enemy...we can win. We have to win, as the alternative is right past the barbed wire, into the oven and out of the smoke-stack...

Hope you come visit when you are over here. You would be welcome to shoot what guns I have, as well as friends' submachine guns and belt-feds.

PS: I got lucky, getting into the US as a refugee. Seems to me thatthe gap between modern Russia and Australia/UK has narrowed very eerily lately...
