what do you do with your handgun hard cases?

I don't have ALOT of handguns, but I have been getting into them more in the last few years than I had in the past. I have enough of them now that they're starting to take up an appreciable amount of space in my safes and this is made worse by the fact that so many of them are new or like new in the cases and boxes that they came in.

I have been keeping the guns in their cases but have been considering taking them out of their cases and storing the cases in an unlocked area so I can put more guns in the safe. How do y'all do it?

I keep them in the cases inside my secret room. This room has allowed me to avoid buying a safe. That said, when I sell this house, I will keep them in a safe.

Safe space is prime real estate.

Of more concern (to me) is the fact that some of mine came with foam in the boxes, and I've read one too many posts on foam causing/enabling corrosion.

So my guns sit in the safe where I can control the humidity and inspect them regularly.

The boxes sit in a big Tupperware-like plastic bin.

I wanted a nice cushy box for my HK P7M8. But it was the dumbest thing to do getting rid of that box. It's nothing but plastic but having that box with the serial number adds value to the resale. Missing the box knocks off maybe $100

I dont have very many handguns but i keep mine when not being carried on a felt lined shelf in my rifle safe. The plastic cases and boxes for all my guns i try to keep under my bed so they are out of the way but wont be damaged in a garage or something so i have them if i want to sell them.

stack 'em

Stack 'em in the basement on a shelf. If I buy a used gun and they try to offer me a generic case I ask them for $10 off instead or just tell them to keep it.

"Wrap it in a plastic bag, PLEASE." :) d

I use bin boxes bought at paper goods stores, and stack the empty boxes on the top of the safe.

out in the building

My handguns are in the safe and the boxes are lined up on a shelf in my storage building. If you sell or trade, the boxes are a big deal. Putting everything back in the box that it came in and taking to the gunshop or gunshow or to your buddies house makes it much more appealing;)

I take the pistol out of the hardcase, put it in the safe and then return the box back to the factory and ask them to refill it and send it back. So far . . . I've spent a lot of time standing out at the road by the mailbox waiting . . . and so far, the factory hasn't returned them to me filled up. What am I doing wrong? :D

I keep the hard cases in my secret cubby closet in the basement. One pistol is in a quick safe next to my bed, another one is IWB most of the time and the rest are in the safe with my rifles.

I have all the hard cases, even though I don't plan on selling any of them. I did sell one once to a friend of mine and he didn't care about not having the box.
