What do we know about John Ashcroft

John Ashcroft has made himself a name as being a member of the conservative Christian right by his own words and deeds. If you are of that political persuasion, this is the man for you.
Frankly, GOA has its head up were it does not belong if it gave John Ashcroft a C- on 2nd amendment matters. There has never been a problem with him there, either in theory or in practice.
I will give him credit for being an honest man, so he will probably make a decent Attorney General. You certainly are not going to see the kind of behavior that we have come to expect from Janet Reno from this man.
As far as 2nd Amendment matters go, I doubt if we could have a better man in charge of the Justice Department than John Ashcroft. We will have a sympathetic ear in the highest councils in this man.
 
I will be watching Ashcroft very carefully in the future. He SEEMS like the right man to have at this juncture in our fight to retain the second ammendment. I have a wait-and-see attitude right now.

Compared to Janet Reno he is a saint!

From our "narrow" standpoint he looks GREAT.
Overall he looks great.
GW might be on a roll.
 
Semantics

Waitone - saying John Ashcroft "quit" the race is like saying Gore "quit" and gave it to Bush. They both lost. Period.

Fair & square ? That's debatable, of course. Now, Ashcroft did the gentlemanly thing by conceding, while Gore dragged us through this unseemly mess. Ashcroft also lent creedence to Bush by not arguing the other side of the coin in Missouri while Bush was trying to beat back the enemy at the gate. I think that makes Ashcroft a big man, not a quitter.
