What do Mulder and Scully carry?

They are definitely 225's or more likely 228's, I believe that Scully has now shot Mulder twice with hers, some partner.

By the way, Ms. Anderson is reputed to have made a hard core skin flick in her pre-X days during which I believe she handled a deadly weapon with a greater barrel length than the 3.6 inches of the P239.

Mike H--The story is apochryphal. In 1986, she was in a club where her punkrocker boyfriend was playing in a band.

When the band's last set ran short, she was asked to get up on stage and read some of her poetry. Her boyfriend's band had someone there that night taping the proceedings, and consequently taped her onstage, with her spiked hair and her nosering!

To the best of my knowledge, this is the origin of the "porn" myth. The truth is oftimes much less interesting than an urban myth.

The same type of story has circulated about David Duchovny, as a result of a low-budget movie he made in the mid '80's, which happened to show a little bit of skin.

Well, guys, I searched for this site since FUD posted asking me to do that, but no luck. I don't have it in my bookmarks, and it's been at least a year or even two years since I ran into it on the web.

Anyway, in one of the recent series it does look like a 228 Scully shoots her abductor with.

Russell92,

I don't know where you could have seen a 239 with half gripping grooves on the slide, but my 239 in .40 has them all the way up.

Parabellum,

Wishful thinking on my part perhaps, but they did say that the Marilyn Munroe skin flick film was a myth. Until they showed it at the Hot Palme D'Or festival in Cannes 3 years ago that is. Ah well, we can dream I suppose.

She is terribly limp wristed in her stance with that 228 however, perhaps a .38 Spl 4" would be a better choice for her.

I think if y'all will look REAL close at first and some second season shows, I think you will see that Scully's 230 is actually a BERSA (UGH). I don't remember what Mulder was carrying then, I never paid much attention to him anyway. ;)

Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war.

Just to and more mud to the water, I was positive that in one episode Scully used a 239 with a 10 round extended magazine. Anyone else see that? Regards, Dennis

Rex--Y'know, come to think of it, I vaguely remember seeing her with a Bersa a long time ago. So much for the theory that they are given what the FBI carries. If that were the case, wouldn't they now be carrying Glock 23s?

DennisE, or anyone, please describe as best you can the episode in which you saw a 239 in anyone's hands, much less Mulder or Scully. I watch every episode and I have never seen a 239 being displayed. However, I did see a 239 in the hands of one of the BGs in "Ronin".

Emin, i have seen them at the range with the half height serations. it looks the same as on a 229. also if you look at the sig arms web site the picture of the 239 with the red backround has the half heigh serations on it.

today i watched an old episode and mulder had a 226 in it. i remember when this episode was first aired and i think that was when the FBI still carried the 228. also on today was a REALLY old one and mulder had a beretta 92 and scully had some little thing that looked kind of like a PPK but it wasn't. oh i guess it could have been that bersa some of you are talking about.

and yes scully has no idea how to shoot. when she does she turns her head away from the gun and he hand is really low down on the grip, yet they are both such good shots...strange...

Well, to put a cap on this one; I just saw tonight's episode of the X-Files. Billy Drago starred as an appalachian conjurer bent on revenge.

Mulder was armed with a Sig 226

Scully was armed with a Sig 228

Didn't see hide nor hair of a 239.

The older espisode aired tonight showed Scully with a compact 380 that I cannot ID. For all you gun gurus, it's a small Walther PPK type pistols, but towards the bottom left hand side of the rgip (it was shown holstered lying on a table) it had what appears to be a star like that used by the Spanish gun maker Starr. Any informed guesses?

I always got the impression that Mulder and Scully carried whatever the props person gave them for that particular episode. I don't think they follow FBI regs verbatim. The timeline between what they carry and what FBI agents are authorized to carry is way off as some previous posters have stated.

So many pistols, so little money.

That's right, the first episode is titles Pilot. It does show Scully's lil' .380 or at least part of it. The grips are reddish brown and have a circular marking on the left side (as shown) lower portion of the grip. I read once that it was a Bernadelli .380, but I am not so sure. I know it is not a 230 or a Walther. Also given that this was the pilot, and maybe for the first season or so, the props master may have just used whatever was on hand that would fit Anderson's hand.
At least on the show she is kicking ass unlike Mulder who is always getting his ass kicked.
Frankly, if I were being attacked by a zombie or a vampire or a giant alligator, I might turn my head away and flinch just a little too :)
Oh and BTW Scully carries a small Swiss Army knife and Mulder carries a Kershaw Liner Action, just in case you wondered about whether or not they carry knives.
