We just want to find out what age group is spending on pistols,

Are the younger folks buying the high dollar pistols ?

I used to buy nothing but higher priced everything believing they were the best, Now I buy Rugers and feel that I am getting just as good if not better products in some cases.

I did not put in models as the prices is all we need to know, If I put in Glock, Ruger, Colt etc it would just start a bunch of arguments:D

Currently, I'm 54 years young; feel and look like I'm 19, and
my primary handgun a Sig-Sauer P220A .45 ACP cost me
$639.95 + 8% sales tax. I'm not weeping, crying, or other
wise bitching; cuz it's the best damn investment I've ever
made. Like a good neighbor, "It's always there when I need
it". :D :)

I took Primary Pistol to mean my daily carry gun. That's a Glock 27 that cost $485. I f you want to know much I spent on my most expensive pistol, that would be $750 on a HK USP45.

And I'm 30.

I haven't spent less than $500 on a gun in a long time :( My collection now consists of Berettas, HK's and a couple of OLD S&W revo's ;)

The last time I spent less than $500 was twenty years ago when I bought a Smith and Wesson 586 for $200. The most expensive pistol is the Kimber stainless Gold Match which set me back $925 in 1998. If, by "primary," you mean carry gun, then it would be the Kimber Pro Carry which cost $625 back in 1999.

And, if Ala Dan is 54 but looks 19, I'll eat that S&W. :D

The old adage you get what you par for is true. Also there is the law of diminishing returns. A sig is a better DA SA than a Ruger but the question is how much better?

The weapon that I carry most often is a Smith model 60 .357magnum. I paid less that $400 for it a couple of years back. Age 55 (mine, not the Smith's).

Currently I have no handguns that I paid over $500 for. Bought all NIB. Least expensive was my back up, a Kel-Tec P32. Paid slightly over $200 for it.

Currently own Smiths, Rugers, a Kel-Tec, a Taurus and a Glock.

Hope this helps your research.

I paid a buck a caliber for my Ruger KGP161 back in late 90's, when I was 32 (first gun I bought ) and also bought a rifle at the same time total of $650 plus tax .

Problem with your question is someone may have bought their "Primary" pistol years ago and the current price may be much higher now.

I consider my S&W Model 66 to be my "primary" gun (for home at least) and I paid $319 for it around 1993. It would be much higher today.

I am 25. I carry HK P7M8 with night sights. WAAAY more then $500. I also have, but don't carry early commercial engraved Sig P210. I don't even know how nuch it costs now. In 1998 I paid an equivalent of $4000 for it in Germany. Nice gun. I have never shot it.

I'm 21. My first and only gun so far is a HK P7M8 refurb that I hardchromed. I have about 5700 rounds through it so far; of those 5700, I've probably shot 4200 myself.

Primary gun is G19 at $425. As for the comment made by PAT that you get what you pay for. I guess my CZ75 at $299 would make it "not so good".

I'm 24 and I paid 404.00 for a NEW Glock 27 (now my daily carry) with the Kel-Tec trade, but my Ruger P-95 (269.00 NEW) was my daily carry till I got the Glock. My Beretta went just about everywhere else.

I think your $500 boundary is too low or you need more categories. I suspect you will have a lot of people who buy in the 500-1000 range and a goodly number in the >1000 range
