What Causes A Delay When Buying A Firearm

"in california a back ground cheak and have to get finger printed when you go to buy your firearm."

Well...

I'm in the process of buying a gun right now, and while you do have to put a thumbprint on the form, I don't consider that the same as getting fingerprinted. Of course that's not to say that I think it's OK to require the thumbprint. In fact, I think the whole California gunbuying process is assinine. But everyone already knows that...

10 days is nothing:p

back in NYC it took me a good 6 months to buy a handgun. You have to pay like $200+ and wait for them to call you to be interviewed. Then You go home wait some more months go back in if your unlucky. Then You can only buy one gun and wait some more in order to get it back in your house. You can't buy a handgun without a permit in NYC too.

I know here in Illinois it’s a little different than the rest of the country, but every purchase here is called into the Illinois State Police. The purchase is either instantly approved or you’re a “call back” (the ISP will call the store back with the decision)

People with very common names are typically the ones that area “call backs” ie John Smith. My guess is your delay may be caused by something similar. I have never been a call back, but I’m 99% sure no one else in the state has the same name as me.
