What caliber should/would u get next...?

Tough choice, it would depend on what use you have for another rifle.

I have 22 LR, 22 Mag, 223, 243, 270, 35 Remington (Marlin 336C), 7.62x39, 40 S&W (Hi-Point 4095TS), 12 gauge and just purchased another 223 in Bolt Action yesterday.

For me the choice was the caliber I shoot the most, but if I was looking for another AR it would be in 6.8 SPC, another lever action then 44 Mag or 444, for another bolt action rifle, then maybe, just maybe a 308 or 7 mm Rem Mag.

Lots of choices for you yet, but it will be up to you and your tastes in type of rifles you like.

Good Luck and shoot straight.

Pretty much covered the spectrum of rifle calibers with what I already have. If I were to buy something new. I think I would enjoy the experience of ordering something custom built next time. No doubt having a rifle built to my requirements would be a treasure to own. As far as caliber. Now that is a given. 257 Roberts Improved is one I would like to try. Been there done that with all those others. So why not something special a bit different so to speak. Yup. Maybe someday.

Id really like for my next caliber to be .308, and I would be happy with a used rifle of some sort. But I havent owned a .308 so its next I hope.

For the OP, I see you lack a .264 (6.5 mm) caliber!

I really don't see myself diverging away from the .264 (6.5 mm) any time soon. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor, and I really want a 6.5 Grendel and 6.5x55. From there it will be either 6.5-.284 or .264 Winchester Magnum.

I'm with Olddav,

You've got a really nice spread on calibers, and the only hole I see is something in the heavier end of the spectrum.

Get something with some serious punch!

338-06 looks like a fun cartridge, but I'm a big fan of my .300 Win-mag and my 375 H&H. I had a 35 Whelan years ago, and, in a moment of raw stupidity, traded it. That was a brute too. :)

Don't know if you deer hunt, but from I see in the OP, I'd suggest to add a 45-70 lever action if you simply have to have another.
However, to be fair, I really do not see that you lack anything.

I agree with BigAl, I would add a big boy/magnum of some kind. I do not know if you have a "need" for it or not, but then again most of your "needs" would probably be covered with something you already own.

Maybe 300 Win Mag, 300 RUM, 338 Win Mag, or 338 Lapua.

My next caliber will be a .243 bolt action for my son's first deer rifle. I want a 45-70 in either a Ruger 1 or a marlin Guide for myself but that will have to wait. I want to get a good rifle that my boy can deer hunt with as long as he wants.

I say 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser..............but that is just about my standard answer for every cartridge question;)

"17,22,223,243,270,30-30,30-06,
7.62x39,7.62x54 .... .357 mag, .45 colt"

Well, you're not far off - since you didn't say for what purpose, I'm going to assume the purpose is to be more like me; therefore, you should get rid of these:
.270 win
.30-30 win
7.62x39
7.62x54

Keep these:
.17 (I'm gonna assume .17 HMR)
.22 lr
.223 Rem
.243 Win
.30-'06
.357 mag (rifle)
.45 colt (rifle)

and add these:
.280 rem
.280 rem AI
7mm RSAUM
.375 HH Mag
.260 rem
.22 mag (several times over)
.17 hornet
.357 Max (rifle)
.45-70 govt

But yeah, what are you trying to do?

If you don't have a .22mag, then without a doubt, that's it. Levers, pumps, turnbolts, semis - it's all good - great chambering. Cheap and super-versatile.

Someone mentioned getting a big boy -if you do, all of these are very good chamberings:
9.3x62mm
.35 Whelen
.375 HH mag
.338-'06 A-square
even the .375 win has a certain appeal for me

If you might go to Africa, choose the .375 HH mag..... if you're not, one of the other three there.

I had a CZ 550FS in 9.3x62, and lemme tell you, selling that was in the top 5 dumbest things I ever did!

My next new cartridge is going to be the 6x45mm. Dies are in hand and barrel is on order.
FYI I like my 338/06 but I'm no longer able to go elk hunting so not much need for that much horse power.

next rifle?

I'm with Sure Shot. 257 Roberts AI or the standard Roberts. IMHO everyone
needs at least one rifle for "nostalgia" sake.

Thanks for replies..... as to particular need...Not one...:)

Just wanted shooting enthusiasts' ideas....

I think the big gun is getting more responses...and of the big ones...looks like 45-70.....hummm

I think I like that idea...:)
