What are your "bolt arsenal" must haves?

I'm not to hung up on particular rifles but I will always own bolt action rifles in the following cartridges.

.223 Rem
6x47 Rem (wildcat)
.270 Win
.30-06 Springfield
.338-06 A-Square

Arsenal?

Lefties
Savage 10 tactical 223
Remington 721 (Guise Custom) 25/06
Savage 110J 7-08m
Savage 110 300 Win-mag/...building
Savage 116 stainless 338 Win mag

Righties
Remington 700 long action, 26" bull barrel 308, M24 Clone
V24, 98 Mauser Custom in 308
GW1898 Mauser 7X57 building....

Never thin the herd, get a bigger pasture:D

1) .22 LR - I have my grandfather's Remington Targetmaster, only a single shot, but that's usually enough. :D

2) High quality workhorse/hunter such as a Weatherby Vanguard .308

3) Depending on your interests, one "flagship" gun, a real beauty that is specialized and/or rare or exceptional. This can be either varmit such as heavy barreled .257 or big game caliber such as .270 Wby Mag (shot in a Weatherby MkV of course!) or perhaps .300 Mag if you go after the big ones. Really no point to go beyond that for most in North America... :o

4) Vintage WWII era iron sight bolt gun complete with heavy wood stock (those of you who are relatively young that complain about a couple pounds of weight......go the gym...), my choice is either a K98, M48 or 24/47 8mm Mauser.

5) Vintage Bonus Round: Swiss K31 straight bolt, because it rocks. :D And life is short. Another option would be a vintage sniper of some kind, which will only increase in value. So great fun, plus it's an investment and future family heirloom.

As a relative beginner, my Enfield #4/Mk. 1s, #5s, and now the Romanian M-69 .22 Trainer. A .22 rifle is a must have.

Was the Rom. a military or mostly a civilian trainer?

I have two bolt action 22-250 and one bolt action .308.

I would really like a Winchester Model 52 and some sort of bolt .223.

the 1903 isnt incorrect to shoot it just sometime u have to watch firing hot loads. i think serial..not positive num 0..... 300xxx they took the reciever under ultra violet light heated them up ( extreme tempeture ,hotter than u can load a round) and hit the reciever with a ball pin hammer.. under the ultra violet light on some of them,,, not all.....u could see a so fine less than hair thin crack
:D LOL oh my goodness

I have never read anything so funny nor so ignorant of any manufacturing process. That Sir is a great fairy tale. I am glad I was not sitting up drinking anything when I read it.

Must haves? A 22, varmint rifle, big game rifle

For me, those are...

CZ452, 22lr
Savage model 12, 22-250
Savage 110, 30-06

Just because...

Spanish Mauser 7mm

Wants...

CZ 527, 222 Fireball
Not sure yet, 260 Remington
Custom 338 Lapua
CZ550, 458 Lott

Then of course, are the levers and autos.

My collection makes me happy

1938 Mosin Nagant 91/30 7.62x54
1939 MN 91/30 7.62x54
1944 MN 44 7.62x54
1891 Modelo Argentine Mauser -7.65x53
1924/47 Yugoslavian Mauser -8mm

I enjoy my Bolt action Surplus rifles!!!!

OP: I believe there is a lot between a .22LR and a .308.

If not in diameter, maybe function? I think one supersonic varmint hunter would be a necessity, like a .22-250 or even a .223.

All of the rifles I shoot are bolt, not a single semi-auto.
Rem 5R .308
Rem 5R .300 Win Mag
Rem 5R .223
And a few more, those are the ones that get shot

Browning x bolt! I have one in 300 win mag and it will run 1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 150 yards in stock form. With carefully and meticulously reloaded rounds of course. Triggers are also fantastic from the factory.
Attached is a 5 shot group at 150 yds next to a dime from a bench rest.

Being that I'm a civilian I don't have an arsenal, neither do you. But as for must haves the answer could vary between 0 to 3 depending on location and hobbies. Personally I find bolt action rimfires boring as heck and don't/won't own one. Now if I was in Pennsylvania where you can't use semi's to hunt it would be a different matter. As for centerfires it's completely dependent on what and where you hunt. If you don't hunt the answer is zero. Only hunt big game the answer is one. Big game, varmints and predators might require 2 centerfires. Like I said, 0 to 3 if you're in Pennsylvania, 0-2 just about every where else.

Me? I live in Iowa and hunt small game (use 10/22's), predators and deer (some out of state) so my bolt action collection consist of one .243. It's all I need, all I want.

Centerfire rifles in general come in a distant 3rd (way, way, way back) behind rimfire rifle and shotgun on the must have list.

Let's see here....

.22 LR - Marlin Model 25 for those critters inside 100 yards
.223 Rem - Rem 700 ADL Varmint - for critters up to 400 yards
.270 Win - Browning X-bolt - for bigger game
.308 Win - Browning X-bolt (wife's rifle) and Tikka T3 Lite (my all around)
30-06 - wish I still had my Weatherby Vanguard Sporter

Bolt must-haves??

Marlin 880SQ or 2000L in .22LR (Heavy Target barrels)

Marlin XT22-MVSR in .22WMR (Heavy Target Barrel)

Marlin X7VH (Varmint heavy barrel) in .308 to complement the X-7 in .30-06 with pencil barrel.
That one will receive a Boyd's Stock for sure ;)

I've done my time with thin & medium barrels, its time to rock on with the HB's!!

Besides, I'm a gorilla...an extra pound of weight makes absolutely zero difference to me,
and if it ever does, time to double up at the gym ;)

I loved my Enfield's but sold them (2). Crap, but what the hell I got a couple of Mosin Nagant 91/30's to hold me over and the ammo is cheaper.

I love my two 1903A3's they shoot any .30-06 and are accurate as heck, especially my 2 groove Smith-Corona (Remington barrel). This gun may have been a drill rifle as there is very small weld marks by the magazine cut-off, yet it shoots just fine. The previous owner even bedded the stock. We're talking a little over 1" groups at 100 yards.

I would like a nice .22 lr as I don't own one. The CZ's I looked over appear great.
