What are we going to do if Gore is elected? Try not to upset the status quo...
Those crazies out there, resisting tyranny.
Purpose of the Militia
The Western Illinois Militia's primary goal is to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Currently, our rights under this highest law of the land are under attack by numerous government agencies - from the lowest public official to the President of the US. At the forefront of the battle are the rights to keep and bear arms, to be secure in person and property, and to speak freely about whatever it is we choose to say.
We are a paramilitary organization, with a structure of command and policies to regulate our actions. We are here in the event that other, more peaceful groups might someday fail in our cause. We exist to wage war. We are ready and willing to die for freedom. With this commitment comes the great responsibility to do as much as we can to promote our cause peacefully while there is still time!
We have membership from across the State of Illinois, organized in to two divisions - Private, and Public. Public members have the duties of furthering our cause through action - we meet with the media, we talk with law enforcement officials, we represent the Militia at various events and meetings. Private members are our soldiery - in secret, they support our organization through the bond that is created when the oath is taken to support the Constitution of the US and to protect the fellow militiaman. The majority of our strength stems from our private members.
Why, if this is such a great and noble cause, would anyone want to secretly be involved with our organization? Simple - the government doesn't like us, because we represent a set of beliefs that could put them in the path of a rifle barrel one day. Being a public member is not the easiest thing to do - harassment by law enforcement agencies is rampant. We are not only subject to both overt and covert surveillance, we are sometimes subjected to legal action in the court system, or non-legal shakedowns on the side of lonely country roads. You must understand, believing that our government has turned corrupt has very serious consequences in today's world!
Freedom has a very definite price. You cannot tell someone what freedom is. You cannot describe the meaning of the word. You have to feel it. You have to believe it. You have to be willing to pay for it with your life! Our lives are lived in a state of slavery - slavery to our Government, to the people with power. Until you see and know that you are a slave, can you begin to imagine what freedom is.
We are in bondage to a great many things in our lives. Our money makes us slaves - if you have enough money, you can do whatever you want. The reverse of this is if you don't have money, you can't do what you want. However, doing what you want isn't what creates freedom! You can live without much money. You can live without the newest TV, the flashy new automobile, the perfectly-trimmed lawn in the perfectly-maintained neighborhood. Having new physical possessions doesn't make you a free person!
Freedom comes from within - not from money, but in the only thing that makes us human. The ability to think. Think for a second about the average U.S. Citizen -
They wake up. They go to work. They eat food prepared by a food establishment. They come home, to watch TV. They sleep. They repeat.
No one questions this trend, because no one needs to. Why? Because if they questioned their life, they would find that they are afraid to do anything else. And why are they afraid? Status Quo. They want the next day to be the same as the last, because they don't want it to get any worse than it already is.
However, it is getting worse. Some people are starting to see that.
Every great civilization that this world has ever seen exist has fallen. Even this one, the Land of the Free, the Home of the Brave. Microwave Ovens, Big Screen TV's, fancy new automobiles, fast new computers ... just a smokescreen, a luxury. And that is not being done by the direction of some nefarious secret government agency, or some new world order just on the verge of enslaving all of mankind. Sorry folks, we are doing it to ourselves. It's called apathy. We put our minds in Check, so that we don't let the bad things that are happening all over our country enter in to our thoughts.
Some day, that will all change. Someone you know will be harassed by someone with more power, more money, more authority. Someone you know and love will be physically or mentally scarred by an abuse of power. And no one will care. It doesn't matter, you watched it on the 5 O'Clock News. It happened to someone else. It didn't happen to you, it can't happen to you. Bad things don't happen to good people that play by the rules, right?
Wrong. Ask the children at Waco. That's right... you can't. They were murdered by our Government. The good guys.
Ask the family of Randy Weaver. Remember, the good guys shot his wife and son.
Ask Dan Shoemaker, if you can make the visitation hours. He was thrown in jail for exorcising his ability to SPEAK.
If you think for one second that we are the enemy - the militia, then you can rest assured that we are. Remember, there are many sides to our society. Most people fit in to the largest category - they are the drones. Driving around merrily to work and back without a clue, or care, as to what happens around them. As long as they make their meetings, their appointments, and their bills on time, nothing can get in the way of their success. They want to win at the game of Life. They are the sleeping masses, the faces which you can't put a name to, and don't want to. Who cares, right?
Another group of people has come about recently - there are those who want more control - they want the Government to have every say in what transpires in this country, because they don't believe people are able to make their own decisions. They want to change our country, just because they can! They know that once laws are written, they hardly ever go away.. So solve every problem by making more laws .. which in turn creates more problems .. which creates more laws. It's a vicious circle, and somewhere inside that circle you can make money. Lots of it. You can get power, and freedom, and somehow be above the laws that you are trying to create. Remember, Sarah Brady of Handgun Control Inc. not only makes lower-middle six figures as head of her organization, she also has a concealed carry permit!
The last group of people in this Country are people like us, maybe not as extreme or radical, but those that believe in our Country. That every man is created equal, irregardless of whether he wears a badge, or gets paid by our tax money. We don't give the slightest care as to whether you are Black, White, Hispanic, Male, or Female, Christian, or Buddhist. We only care whether you can Think, because if you can, you are one of us.
If you believe that elected officials, and some appointed ones, have the right to deny us our freedom, then you better move somewhere else. If you believe that they have the power to stop us, think again. If you believe they really do good and marvelous things with the Trillions we give them in Tax money, you need to keep doing whatever it is your are doing, and not pay us any attention. If you think that because you are just one person, that you can't do anything, then you need to go back to your daily regimen of mindless activity and banter.
We believe in freedom. We believe in peace, and peaceful things. We want to do the same things as you - maybe raise a family, build a home, practice whatever religion we choose. Maybe we want to read a book, or talk to our neighbors, or have a barbeque. Maybe we want to take a walk in the woods, go catch a fish, maybe teach someone how to do something new. Maybe we want to help someone else. Maybe we just want to be left alone.
However, just wanting to be left alone is called apathy. If you want to be left alone, welcome to slavery. You have lost your freedom, and your hope. If you don't believe strongly enough in your ideals to take action, to do something about it, then maybe you should get a new set of beliefs.
We are the citizens of this great land, and we are the ones with power. We are the ones that give them the authority - sometimes willingly, sometimes through fear.
If you lose your fear, they lose their power. Freedom. Liberation from fear.
This militia has no fear of the enemy. We are ready to die, to give our very lives, to win our rights back!
If you want, you can watch it on the 5 O'Clock News, on your big screen TV. Or, maybe pick it up while your mindlessly surfing the Internet. Maybe think about it the day after while driving to work in your new automobile, secure in the fact that you are master of your own existence, your own life. Until they come for you.
No one in this militia has died from a gunshot so far. God willing, we won't. No Government agency has yet crossed the line to take from us our life, liberty, or property. They don't want bloodshed, just as we don't. The problem is that all of us are subjected to a blatant police state. Every day, you are unjustly taxed. You are fined for petty offenses which only serve to line the politician's pockets. You are subjected to random acts of barbarism by our "law enforcement" agencies. Every day, the dice are rolled. One day, it will be you on the side of the street with the flashing lights behind you. One day, it will be you that gets the letter in the mail demanding tribute.
When you have had enough, when it is you that has been pushed too far by our Government, just remember that there are people out there who are willing to do something about it. Who knows .. you might be one of us. Remember, don't make the commitment unless you are serious enough to give your life - so that others may enjoy theirs.
LIVE FREE, OR DIE

"[Even if there would be] few tears shed if and when the Second Amendment is held to guarantee nothing more than the state National Guard, this would simply show that the Founders were right when they feared that some future generation might wish to abandon liberties that they considered essential, and so sought to protect those liberties in a Bill of Rights. We may tolerate the abridgement of property rights and the elimination of a right to bear arms; but we should not pretend that these are not reductions of rights." -- Justice Scalia 1998
