What are some good concealment places for a firearm in a home

B. Lahey, I was going to say I think I know your grandfather because of the hiding place, then I noticed where your from, I think your grand dad wasn't the only one to build something like that.

I once rented a house and didn't want to puchase a safe, only to have to move it once I purchased my own house. The rental had a finished basement and I hid all of my firearms in the drop-tile ceiling. On moving day, my friends (that were helping me move) were in awe at the amount of guns I had in the ceiling. Now that I think about it, it's amazing that the ceiling never collapsed, from the weight. ;)

Yes, it has been a bad month for my family. I know things will start to look up. Thanks for the ideas.
While, I was visiting my mother at the hospital yesterday. I happened to see a built in cabinet linning one wall. It went up about 7 feet. It had a counter top on the lower cabinets. There were two cabinet underneath this countertop. There was a mirror recessed into the wall above each cabinet. There were 4 more cabinets that were above the mirror that didn't touch the ceiling. The first thing I thought of was building this but with sliding mirrors that have weights on them. Remove one pin and the mirror raises to reveal the hidden cabinet. This makes a great place to put handguns. The other idea was to have it slide to the left or right instead of raising up. Same pin would free the mirror. The top of this buildin cabinet, I would put a removable top that would slide out to reveal a sunken drawer. This draw would be perfect for rifles or shotguns. I know what some of you are thinking, this is a bad idea to reveal what I intend on doing. In reality what I intend on doing is totally different. This is just one great idea that came to me after another great idea. Isn't funny where great ideas pop out?

If you have a set of bookshelves with books - several companies make a small metal lock box that looks like a dictionary. When placed on a shelf with other books it truly blends right in and gives you your "hidden out in the open" effect. While that works well for handguns, jewelry, etc, long guns would be a different story

I put stuff in my box springs by pushing 1 x 4 wooden boards togather making a nice shelf.Once i hide what i want and always keep at least one gun on me at all times.I still have a safe and i still lock the closet and my bedroom door.

Uzi,

Look at the stuff you have in your house. What if it was fake?

What if that light switch was not a real one but a false emtpy switch box with magnets that kept the plastic face on and a .38 inside?

Or that electrical socket? Or that wall clock? Or look at your lamps. Couldn't a lamp be fake (not turn on) but something be inside?

Are those books really books? Is that vase empty?

Tell me, is that paper shreadder a real one?

There are many ways to hide weapons! All in plain view!
