I reload, or atleast have a reloader, and just made myself some practice ammo. A case with a bullet, no primer or powder. The real-weight of the bullet is great, verses a lighter snap-cap, for loading dills. Especially for revolvers and speed loaders.
Of course I am extra careful to check to make sure there is no live ammo anywhere abouts, and I mark all of my practice loads accordingly. Such drills are usually just loading, and certainly not dry fire-loads so my finger doesn't even find the trigger.
They make great dud-rounds for malf drills on the range, too.
If you reload, or know someone who does, I recommend some dummy rounds for training.
And a big safety item it is. By using a snap cap, you are certain there is no live ammo in the chamber.
Yes, we all faithfully ensure the gun is completely unloaded, all live ammo is put away, etc. BUT, there have been people who failed this simple intelligence test. Putting snap caps in the gun prevents live ammo from being there, as two things cannot be in the same place at the same time.
