What are my options? 22 Pistols...

Hi Guys,
Well I'm asking your opinion on this because I'm stuck. I currently own a Ruger single six 6.5" 22LR/22MAG stainless and a Ruger MK3 22/45 . I really like both guns and have no interest in selling them but I'd like something as a backpack/hiking/kayak/canoe/camping plinker to haul along with all the other crap I usually bring with me.

Basically looking for a reason to buy another 22

What I'm looking for is a 6+ shot 22LR pistol. Revolver OR Semi auto. The lighter the better but not necessary.

Here are my current options that I can see...Add some to my list if you have any idea's!

1.H&R variant (snub noised preferred)
$100-$150
-Have had a 922 1st gen. Good gun but 6" and a tad to long for a pack gun IMHO

2.S&W 317 Kit gun
$550+

-Seems like the best gun for me but dang expensive for a 22 IMHO

3.Another 22/45 with pac lite upper
$400 or so

-Pros would be that I already have a 22/45 so I could share mags PLUS have a host when I eventually go the suppressor route.

4. Heritage RR 22LR/22Mag
$200

-Cheap and not bad looking IMHO.

5. NAA Black Widow 22LR/22Mag 2"
$315

-I've had a NAA 22 mag and I really liked it. This has actual sights and a 22 LR cylinder which is a plus.

I currently have a NIB Taurus 94SSUL. I haven't shot it and plan to sell it at some point, then put that $$ towards a new 22.

SO, what are my options. Whats the best way to spend some money? All opinions are appreciated.

Browning Buckmark Camper. Just to balance the Ruger in your collection. LOL
They are very reliable, good shooting 22 semi-autos!

If I go for another Ruger, I'd like to get another 22/45 MK3 so I can use the same mags. I know the older MK2's or 1's are preferred but I'd like to keep all the mags the same

Here's my Buckmark with a Tactical Solutions 4" Trail-Lite barrel. I don't know how crucial cost is to you, but the Trail-Lite barrels are a bit cheaper than the Ruger Pac-Lites, because the Pac-Lites include the receiver as well.

I think it's a nice compromise between heavy, bulky full-size Rugers/Brownings and little compacts such as the Walther P22.

By the way, the Walther is a fun little gun (with the 3.4" barrel), but I shoot better with the Browning. The 5" barrel on Walther may make it easier to shoot, but it looks worse IMO and obviously loses its compactness.

The best gun on your list for the purpose as stated is the S&W 317 Airlite. Pricey, yes.
I picked up a 317 some years ago - traded a Ruger Bearcat and some $ for a new Airlite. I have not regretted the purchase for a moment. The Ruger - a fine little gun - as small as it is was too heavy.
I wanted a gun to carry while hiking, while upland hunting, while walking around in the woods....a gun that would be barely noticeable. The 317 fills the bill; a ten ounce gun, maybe it weighs 11 loaded. I have the snubby; it is the gun most likely to go in to my pocket as I walk out the door.

I love my P22!!

It is accurate enough for me! I have shot it from 3 to 75 yards with very pleasing results! Picky ammo? Yes, being a blow back operated pistol with a full slide it requires a HV ammo! But it looks, feels & operates like a centerfire pistol which was & big plus for me! Just my $.02! :D

Curious question.... why not use the Taurus UL you already have?

I know its not as light as the 317 but I think its lighter than some of the others you listed.

I 2nd danez71,,,

Why not use the Taurus you already own?

Granted, the S&W is overall a much nicer pistol,,,
But going with the "bird in the hand" thing,,,
Assuming the Taurus functions properly,,,
It's as appropriate a handgun as any.

If not the Taurus then of the ones you have listed,,,
The S&W is the best pistol for your purpose.

My pick would be the 317 too.

Im just curious as to why NOT the 94 UL that the OP already has.

Maybe some incite would help others..... like me. I want a 317 but have somewhat considered the taurus instead.

On a side note.... I need to check the Sale section. Thats a good deal.

Well the 317 didn't work out as of now. Got a PM from the member saying it was already SPF....not posted in the ad though.

To answer everyone's question about the Taurus, do a search in my previous posts about the Taurus Customer Service issues I've had.

The one I have now is NIB and has no issues that the last one they sent me had. I just don't have any faith in the firearm OR the company whatsoever so I'd like to get something different. They may make a good firearm, the one I currently own might be great BUT if I have issues with any Taurus or this Taurus I don't want to deal with their customer service again.

The search continuous!

I like the S&W 22A- just picked one up for $200. Easy to clean, accurate, comes with 2 mags, has built in rail( for a cheap red dot) and has shot everything I've put through it-love bulk ammo.

How about a Ruger Bearcat?

Shown with a Single-Six for size comparison, it's my favorite gun to carry when I don't want to carry a gun. Small, light, accurate and fun. Not to mention as cute as a speckled puppy. What more can you ask for?
